I think a bunch of those were sent and I am pretty sure it is a scam. Why would yahoo be giving away that much money? Just be careful NOT to use your password if the page it goes to requests it. There are alot of people out there stealing passwords and then doing things that will get your accounts either drained or banned.

Yes, true..i had my e-mail acc. banned once and they even ordered things from eBay too, so lucky my bank cancelled that for me. So, please be careful when you giving out you password, or set it to be very different from your normal day use.

I'm pretty sure it's a scam. The first time I received one of those email I contacted I yahoo and they cleary stated they don't give away such prizes. I received emails like that about once every 3 weeks. What I do was to just delete them or sometimes reply with bogus information. Sometimes when i feel like I submit their email reply address to some other spam sites.

if they don't ask for vital info such as social security number or money then it is ok but 90% of these things are scams you can try but don't give money or social security numbers or bank account numbers

Most likely it's another one of these scams.. anyway, it's easy to find out, Genuine Yahoo notification emails are marked with the "Y" letter and colored in blue in your mailbox, no one can fake this in an email, if it comes internally from Yahoo administration it will stand out and will not be like other emails in the inbox. Also if it's too good to be true, then it's not true.. what they are giving you $500 for? I think Yahoo would never do that, at least not without you participating in some kind of contest that they would have announced clearly at the site .

Yes I also think that it must be a scam, why would yahoo gift $500 to some people.Or have you paticipated in any contest or thing like that organised by yahoo then it could be understood even then I need to be very much carefull.
