My brother and his wife have to drive their kids to activities evry night of the week! Me? I need a little downtime. My daughter has swimming once a week, and then she has soccer on Saturdays. I think that's more than enough activities for her. How about you? What activities are your kids involved in?

I usually kept it down to a dull roar. I think kids also need time to socialize and have time for homework and spending time at family activities. I have a friend that has her son and daughter in everything from piano, dance, karate, hockey, soccer blah blah. I think it is too much for them and too much for her. Pick an activity your child has an interest in. Not what interests you! That was always my motto. I could never have imagined my kids being forced to take piano when it was guitar lessons they were interested in. Makes sense to me. I had 5 boys and I don't understand why parents feel the need to push thier children so hard.

I totally agree. I think family time is much more important than other activities!

Right now thank goodness I have no running to do. For 9 years all I did was run for Soccor, Hockey, Baseball, horseback riding lessons, cub scouts, boy scouts, art classes, music lessons, etc. This is the 1st year that both boys wanted to take the year off - music is now at school so I don't have to run for that, but they quit all extra sports this year. It feels so weird to not have to be somewhere during the week or weekends, but I am enjoying the sleeping in or just being lazy ~ lol My one son played hockey for the past 5 years and it was 6 or 7 a.m. practice every Saturday and Sunday and sometimes one night during the week. I never had a weekend to myself from the end of September through April ~ that is ONE LONG SEASON!!! I am sad though that there is nothing going on ~ I do miss it - sometimes! But the kids needed a break - it got to be rough on them too.
