My little girl is lost Where is she?

While commenting on Weemam's response to one of my discussions I was reminded of this . Sheilana was 8 years old .We were at the fair with our animals .We always camp on the grounds when we show. This evening it was about 9pm and we were feeding horses along with most of our friends and their kids.I told Sheilana not to leave the barn area and to stick with her buddies. The barn area is a relatively safe place for the kids to play as so many parents are there cleaning stalls and carrying feed so I never was too worried. I had finished feeding the horses and called to Sheilana with no results.I spotted her group of friends and they told me she hadn't been with them for a while. Everybody started looking for her.I sent someone to the fair office to make an announcement.I was frantic.I finally decided to check to see if she had entered one of the horse stalls and gotten trampled or something. The stalls all have hey shelves which are about 2 feet above the ground and look like little fenced boxes for the hay.I entered Sheilana's horse Melissa's stall(she is now 28).It was dark as the light was in the aisle not on in the stall.I could see Missy with her head in the hay box .As I got close to her she started and I realized I had woke her up then I spotted my sweet little daughter asleep in the hay shelf with Her gaurdian Melissa standing gaurd with her muzzle on Sheilana's chest.I was so relieved that I burst out crying. She woke up thinking I had hurt myself. Have you ever thought you had lost someone?

I'm so glad that Sheilana was found. What a fright to go through. I have rated you a +, as that will boost and help your star stay high. I lost my little girl at 2 years old. I was at the department store, and she pulled her hand out from mine so fast, and just vanished. I turned around, and she was nowhere. I was so scared. Where could she go so fast, and vanish. Then I found her right under the ring of clothes on the rack where I was standing. I was so happy, I cried. She was right there the whole time. I am glad I did not leave that spot to run around looking for her.

oh yes, I lost my son when he was three years old, me, and my husband we shopping in a big mall we went in one direction and my grandparents went in an other we thought they have my son and they thought we had him. Nobody had him. We went crazy looking for him and I found him asleep on a bed in the store.

It's a scary thing for a parent! It just feels like something was ripped out of you, huh? I'm sure it just made you feel sick to your stomach. My daughter went missing for about 20 minutes and I freaked out so bad and didn't know if I should yell at her or hug her when I found her. I ended up hugging her though and crying! I'm glad your daughter was found safe though.

you must have been frantic sweetie - I know I would have been! we all have the moment when we can't find our kids anywhere and it is so terrifying! Niall wasn't too bad but Niamh loves to hide wherever we go and I swear one day I will throttle her when I have spent 10 frantic minutes trying to find her only to eventually find her tucked right op behind all the clothes on a rail in a shop!

It's scary when you think a child is lost, and I know how you felt. My grandson and I were walking around the block a few years ago and he took off running. No way could I catch up with him. By the time I got back to his house, I was frantic with worry. His Mom and I looked all over for him. Of course, he was hiding from us, and we finally found him under his bed sound asleep. If he hadn't looked so cute and sweet, we would really have gotten mad at him. His mom did explain to him that he shouldn't run away from whoever he's outside with and to never, ever hide from any of us after running. I only hope it got through to him. He is the youngest grandchild and so full of energy, mischief and such. He really reminds me a lot of his dad (my son). We had a hard time keeping up with him also.

What a lovely ending to a scary happening. I love the connection that we as humans can make with horses. My daughter, who is now almost 27, hid in the clothes rack at a large department store. I had every door covered as soon as I discovered her missing. When we discovered where she was I was so relieved. I, of course, had to scold her but I hated doing it because she was just doing what little children do at that age. She has since given me many scares since. She must have more that one guardian angel looking over her. Some of those scares were too darn close to a negative ending. Melissa must be a very special horse! I wish I could have seen her guarding your daughter.

Thank you so much for the best response! I love hearing about other people and their horses. I have pets but there is something noble about horses. I have had all kinds of dogs but the last dog I had was lab mix and she was special. She passed away last fall. I have a shepard mix now that I love very much and he helps to make my life complete. He is so loving. Again, thank you!

Missy is officially retired and lives on my sister-in-law's 300 acre horse farm. She has a lovely stall ,her own paddock, all the hay she can eat, daily grain and treats.Sheilana goes down weekly to groom and love her up .She jumps up for a slow around the arena once in a while ..Sheilana sittin pretty and Melissa ,tail flagged, head arched..both remembering fondly the many times they took the blue.Sheilana will come down off the horse with misty eyes ,hug her hard, and lead her back to her paddock where she will get treats and a kiss.It is sad to see your sweet partner in show age...Sheilana grew up with Melissa under her!

Yeah, I can imagine. We were at Lehmans back when we were outfitting out house and my son wandered off. I realized it a bit late due to the fact I had left my teenaged son with him. Well I began to try to coherently ask the sales staff about a little boy and could they call around the building and see if they had seen him. Well, it turned out ok since a sales lady came leading him by the hand back to me. All turned out well too. I have taught my kids even more now about staying with me when out in public. For both of us it ended well.

I am so very happy your daughter was found safe and sound. Almost the exact same thing happened to my daughter and was 7 years old. She took riding lessons at stable about 10 minutes from where we lived and one day she disappeared and everyone search high and low and as it was getting dark I was just about the contact the police when her step-dad remembered her love for "her" horse so he went to the stables and sure enough there she was asleep on the floor of the stall in the hay. It was a miracle she wasn't trampled. I also burst into to tears when she was brought home safe and sound.

I don't think many horses will step on children unless they are startled. Many times through the years I've found her and one of my sons used to fall asleep with the horses in the hay rack...You'd see a horse munching beside sleeping children. But it at home where I know exactly where to find them.

Yes my Daughter who decided to leave my Mums Flat when she was 4 and all she was wearing was a Vest as you can imagine a frantic Search. She was found and she had actually crossed the main road to. I know she certainly had a Guardian Angel that Day. The Person that found her only got to hear that she wanted her Mummy lol. It was scary very scary as I thought I would never see my Girl again, even her Brother cried. We got her back safe and sound and she clung to me I was to relieved to be mad at her.

Hi dear,I have not experienced anything myself but this incident happened with my parents, so it has been quite long when I was too small and my parents were going for shopping to mumbai city and we lived in mumbai suburban, so we need to take on trains. My mom went in ladies compartment while my dad in the general one. He told her to meet at a specific station ,but she slept in the train and went ahead. When she woke up she became restless, also there was no means to contact my dad. So she returned from the last station back and it took some 1/2 an hour more. And my dad was still standing on the platform with depression and red eyes (crying) and he thought for a moment that he lost my mom. This is what my mom said to me once.
