Sharp LCD Atomic Clock beeps

My Sharp LCD Atomic Clock beeps around 1am for 5 minutes. 1 beep per minute. It doesn't bother me since I'm always asleep, but my spouse is nocturnal and when it starts beeping he immediately thinks the smoke alarm (actually it wakes him up after he's fallen asleep on the couch) Anyway, he asked where the instructions were? Like I keep the instructions, what is this the early part of the 20th century? Anyway, if someone KNOWS the answer, I would be grateful for the info. Frankly, I think it's communicating w/the Atomic Clock in Colorado, (I think I remember reading that) but I'm married to a "show-me" nut. Thanks
