A bishop decided to visit a priest to see how things were going in his congregation. He had not announced his visit in advance so there was nobody home in the parsonage. But he saw that the light was on in the church. So he headed away there and was quite surprised. When he opened the door, he saw the priest and the cantor sitting and playing with cards by the altar. The bishop did not want to embarrass them but he decided to give them a lesson. He sneaked away and rang the churchbell twice. When he came out againg he saw someone running against the church. It was the shop owner´s errand boy with two bottles of beer in his hands.
