pure magic because your combat will be lower and you can easily kill people

Well a pure mage would cost way more but will be stronger, also will take more time to train. a melee pure costs much less, and more fun to train. I would say just make a mage. members' mages are the strongest but im f2p and still made a pure mage just because it is fun. if you dont care about the costs definately a mage...

i would level up magic a lot to about 40-50 combat, then start leveling up melee after that.

i have noticed that if your are just f2p then pure mage owns until about the early 40's, fire blast gets old after the 11's and 10s from rangers and 14-17s with melee. Melee pure is great in the long run, but thats my opinion. Pure mage owns really badly if you are strictly member because once you have gotten ancients you slay perty badly, mainly pure melee owns f2p after awhile, mage owns f2p early...i'd be all three have range and melee for 1v1 and range and magic for multi ^.^ that's just meh

It all depends on if you are a member or not. If you are a member, wear full Guthans, and bring lots of runes for Ice Barrage or similar. Also, bring an abyssal whip, lots of manta rays, some super restores, and some prayer potions. As a free player, wear full blue magic robes. They give +1 more magic. Anyways, keep full rune in your inventory and a rune scimmy. Weild an air staff or fire staff to be able to use fire blast. Have 1 or 2 strength potions in your inventory and also get the highest level food you can afford.

there is so many things you must consider. the first is definitely your price range. melee pure would most likeley cost well less than 200k for it to get to combat 50-ish(INCLUDING FOOD) However, mage pures would cost a heck alot more. Maybe up to even a million on runes for it to get to combat 35(wich would be mage 60-ish).But the biggest thing you must consider is that you do curse spells (the body rune spells) so you dont get much hp exp and have defence lvl at either 1 or 5 (preferably 1 so you can have the 4 extra lvls in hp so you wont die in 1 hit) Also, it depends if you are a member or not. Easily said-- non member=Melee. Its cheap and melee is straongest for f2p members= mages. Its expensive but say with 70 magic and 30 hp, your combat would be 40 MAX. With 70 magic you can do some pretty awesom spells (do damge round 20-ish per hit) and can kill other players at lvl 40 pretty easily. hope this helps.

On f2p pure melee is better than pure mage. When I was a pure melee`er on f2p I killed alot of pure mages, one of then even got protect melee. On p2p the best pures are hybryds. That means like 60- 70 att, high str , high mage, high range and hp.And you can easyly kill players with ancients and range or with ancients and a dds.Hope this helps you.

You could always go both, because if you did train mage and got it up alot, you could always train your attack and strength and yet not gain any combat levels. which will keep you away from having to fight very high levels, when you just want to fight the lower levels that take the valueable items into the wild not understanding why. a cheap way to train mage on f2p is using curse.
