How to teach my daughter taking tablets?

My 8 years old daughter doesn't feel well and has to take tablets. But when we give her tablets instead of medical fluid, she doesn't know how to swallow it. This makes me realize that young children have been used to take the medical fluid since they were babies. As a result, they don't know how to swallow anything. So do you have any experience of this? Any idea how to teach my daughter to swallow the unsweetened tablets? Thank you.

I am not sure what kind of tablet you are taking about. If its a pain or fever reducer they do have chewable ones. If it's something from the doctor you can get ideas from the nurse. I know my daughter has an over active bladder and has to take tablets that she can't swallow. I just crush them up and put them in an little apple sauce or pudding. I blame her not swallowing pills on her father. He's the biggest baby of all my children. lol He's in his middle 30's and still won't swallow pills. The doctor puts all his meds ( whenever he has to take any) into liquid form.

I started taking tablets when i was six.. How my parents did it? well, they cut the tablet into for small parts, and little by little they said that it was just like candies but you have to drink it with water .. Then as i grow alder, they cut the tablet into two parts. And now, im taking it as a whole tablet.. :-) i hope it works with your daughter

My mom couldn't swallow tablets either. She would smush it between two spoons into smaller pieces and then put it on top of a spoonful of apricot baby food and then put a bit more apricot on top and then swallow it that way. Then she drank a big glass of liquid to wash it all the way down.

hello,it is very easy but you should spend lot of time to make her swallow tablets as to do this 1st thing you should make her see how you swallow them in your style as children learn everything seeing us and 2ly you should first make her how to swallow with some small toffies or with some small sweet gems. This makes her easy in swalloing tablets. Dont curse me if this does not works but i made my kid learn in this method only.

I remember having a lot of trouble swallowing pills as a child, then my dad sat me down with a box of smarties and some water and told me that he would give me a dollar when I could swallow a smarty no problem (smarties are small chocolate candies similar to m&m's).

Its simple. Take one spoon fill with water. Put the tablet in the spoon and let it dissolve in the spoon. Then give it to your daughter she will take it as medical fluid

Thank you for your effort of helping me. Unfortunately the tablets are quite bitter, so we have to try the alternative way to make her take it.

If my daughter has to take tablets I tell her, this is a "magical bonbon" from a fairy and it makes her feeling better.
