I had a shelti years ago that was a great companion. He would sit by me if I was crying until I quit crying. He was a great watch dog too he would lay outside my bedroom door at night and guard us. He would only bark at strangers. I also had a mutt that was part shitzu and scottish terrier that was worthless as a watch dog but was the perfect loving pet. I now have a cairn terrier and it has the most personality of the three. It is a complete joy. She thinks she is the biggest dog in the neighborhood at 22 pounds.

2 Boxers - I love boxer dogs and would love to have many of them with me.
i love boxers, they look tough, but they are very managable. they are loyal, sweet tempered, dont bark unless they are serious, love children and sick people (really, they are so sensitive!) i swear my dog comforts me when i am upset. they are very intelligent, they are very trainable. but please...don't get one unless you really want something to love, don't just chain it up or leave it in the yard. they need a lot of love and attention, and do not do well in extreme temperatures, and you need to be with it every day, it's a big commitment. please look at the pound first, there's always boxers there, especially white boxers as they are not akc recognized but just as awesome.

We have 5 dogs, a 13 yr old Aust. Shepherd, an 8 yr old Lab Ret, a 5 yr old Jack Russell, a 3 yr old Westipoo who was a rescue from a puppy mill and we have an 8 mth old German Shorthaired Pointer who is amazing. If I had know how cool these dogs are, it would have been my first dog. We are planning to get another one in the future.
