What's the worst treatment you've ever gotten from the dentist?

I went to my dentist's office a few weeks ago, complaining of extreme pain. I saw one of the other dentists in the office, he took an x-ray and said I had a huge cavity. Since I had to be back in two days to finish affixing a permanent crown, I said I'd wait. Went to the original dentist 2 days later and complained of the pain. Told him what dentist #2 said. CAN'T FIND THE X-RAYS! And somehow I have NO pain. (Excuse Me???) The third visit they've found the x-rays but dentist #1 says I don't have a cavity. Ok, still in pain but they did something and it stopped hurting for a few weeks. My mouth now is really hurting and I called the office again. The hygenist says she spoke to dentist #2 and again I have decay in my mouth--what do I want to do? I complained about my treatment--is less than 2 years "a long time" since I had the tooth filled by their office? I'm trying to find a new dentist office (I have no dental insurance right now) but this is HORRIBLE! And they have $135 of my money too (I asked for a check--they want to issue a credit to use there!) UGH! Any advice or horror stories?

I have trigeminal neuralgia, traditional pain killers don't work on me. I can take codeine or anything and it does not help.
Before I was diagnosed, I went to the dentist, he said i had a bad filling, he gave me novacaine, it did not work. I told him that I could not stand the pain, he told me to suck it up, I was fine. I passed out. (He was not my regular dentist) I went back to the same office for a cleaning, when he came in, I said I wanted to see the other guy. The hygienist told that I should apologize to him or he would not see me again. He called me a liar and it it never happened.

OMG--talk about rotten customer service! I so would have reported them to their state governing board! And I thought my situation was bad--I think you won!

I have about 10 horror stories, but mine involve them drilling and pulling. It's been 5 years since I've been to the dentist because of what the last one did to me!! I'm terrified to ever go again.
I was 5 months pregnant and I went in because I had a root canal (that I had told them NOT to do) and they damaged a nerve, which caused constant pain....
After about 14 shots in the mouth, I could still feel him trying to pull this tooth!!! My roots were all grown inward and this man was KILLING me! My tooth just would not come out! He ended up just shattering the whole tooth! By the time he was done I had a busted lip in 2 places, and had thrown him completely to the floor because it hurt so bad and he would not stop! He was on top of me pulling down so hard, and I just couldn't take it anymore. I vomited because the pain was so bad. I almost passed out. They had to give me a shot for that! He had bruised the whole front of my face and busted my lip TWICE!!
I think I'll get drunk off my butt and pull any more that I ever have to have pulled myself!! (hopefully I don't ever have to have another one pulled!) I have pretty good teeth! Thank Goodness! But, that did me in!

They did that while you were PREGNANT? Suppose you had lost the baby--how would they explain that? I cannot even begin to imagine that kind of pain. I went to see a local guy who proceeded to bang my impacted wisdom teeth out after I specifically said not to touch them (I had to go back to work). He did and my mouth was killing me when I got back--plus I had to work another 4 hours! My insurance refused to pay for extractions on the first visit to a dental office, so I refused to pay the dentist because I knew this and told him not to touch my mouth! I have heard all sorts of complaints about him since. Unfortunately, I have weak teeth and am often in the office :(

Yep, I was about 4 months pregnant...
I'm so sorry that happened to you! I had all four of mine pulled at once and let me tell you, that's a whole other horror story! I'm done with dentists and I hope and pray you've found a better one! Have a great day!

Ouch hun (hugs) I can completely empathise with you as I am still having some trouble with the large gap in my face. I broke a tooth 6 weeks ago and went straight to the dentist. He said he could repair the damage and made an appointment for me for a couple of days later. The following evening another piece of the broken tooth fell out, leaving me with a large hole and a lump of broken tooth. I rang the dentist the following day and he said he couldn't repair the damage but the remains of the tooth would have to come out. He made another appointment for me and I went along to get the remains of the tooth removed.
I have the rest of the tooth pulled out but the dentist didn't pack the gap in my gum, or apply any kind of antiseptic wadding. Oh yes, you know what's coming along now, don't you. Within 24 hours I had an infection in the hole and my face swelled up so badly I looked like I had a tennis ball in my mouth. So I went back to the dentist who took one look and said, you have an infection. No Sh£$% Sherlock, so he gave me a prescription for antibiotics and cleaned up the mess in my mouth. I took the prescription to the chemist but he hadn't signed the prescription so I had to go back to the dentist, again, and get him to sign the thing before I could return to the chemist to get the antibiotics.
The damn thing is still giving me trouble, even now, and I know I will have to go back to the dental surgery again to get it checked - I hate dentists

Thanks for the best response hun. For what it's worth I am still taking pain killers and getting referred to another dentist. Hugs
