when I was looking for another job, I used to call off on days that I had interviews. I used excuses such as, I was sick, my car wouldn't start, etc. I'm just curious as to what excuses you have used? Did they work??

I've used quite a few excuses. I said that my car wouldn't start or even that I was on my way to work and my car broke down so I needed to wait for AAA so i could sleep in. I've said that I was sick and had food posioning. I said that I had to go to the hospital because I had a bad Asthma Attack (I don't have Asthma). I have said that I just got a call that my dad was in the hospital and I needed to drive out of town to see him and make sure he is ok. I said that i was on my way to work and my car got stuck in the snow so I didn't know if I would be able to make it b/c it was stuck in there pretty bad. And that I got locked out of my car so I needed to wait for AAA to come or for my mom and dad to come and bring me my spare key. My best excuse was saying that I couldn't go to work because my child was sick and I didn't feel comfortable leaving her alone(I have no kids). All of these excuses have worked pretty successfully for me and all my employers have loved me.

Wow, sounds like you are full of excuses! I'll have to keep these in mind if I want to play hookie for a day! Thanks for sharing! I must say, I'm truly impressed!

I have never skipped work. If I didn't liek a job I just gave it up. When I had an interview once I pretended I had a doctors appointment. That way they didn't question what it was about as it could easily be something private.
