Why am I helping her?

I was being evaluated when my superior noticed that I logged to the class full ten minutes before class. It was just then that I learned that we had to log in 5 minutes before the class, upload the files 3 minutes before the class, and activate the student at the exact alloted time. That was no big deal. It may be my fault all along for not joining the online group conference and reading the guidelines. But what is this feeling of sudden urge to help the newbie next to me? I told her everything that I just learned. I mean I'm not really generous when it comes to work. I always believe that you have to earn your keep. But then I couldn't stop guiding her what to do and how to do it. She's not really well-versed with computers, so I had to technically teach her what to do. I was feeling damned right and OK, and wouldn't stop helping her out, if I didn't have classes. Is this an assertion of my self-worth, was I just feeling down and needing someone to talk to whichever matter it is, or was I just being nice? I mean this isn't something I'm not used to do. I don't have many friends at work, and I don't ask them for help unless I'm going to be a goose. For the most part, I never ask anyone for help.

You may be helping her being you are just innately kind. Nothing is wrong with that and it's not something that one should avoid doing. If we just stop awhile and show little kindness everyday, I think this world will be a much better place to live. I'm sure that you have made the person's day brighter for helping her out and it does feel good when one do good things without being asked.
