Seven students expelled from school for faking annual foreskin test

It appears that these students decided it was too embarrassing to have a doctor look at their foreskin...understandable. So, instead of having the annual exam, the students forged the signature on the documents saying it was done. However, they were busted! So the school expelled the students saying it reflects badly on the school. But the parents and the hospital are saying that it is a too harsh of a punishment. Do you agree this punishment is too harsh given the circumstances? Or is it justified because the students forged a doctors signature? Here is the article to read for yourself. :) http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_2258461.html?menu=

Okay is it just me or what? But I have NEVER heard of a foreskin test at school? What the heck?? Okay...hum, that just sounds odd to me anyway. I don't blame the kids directly, but they shouldn't have done it anyway...that was kind of stupid on their part. They had to know they'd get caught in some form. I don't think I would have expelled them though. That's kind of harsh for such a thing. Maybe, MAYBE, a day suspecion or something but not expelled.

If I were them, I would take a stand and just refuse to do the test! That might get media attention and stop the testing without the harsh punishment of forgery and being expelled.

The students shouldn't be expelled from school, but should be punished for forging the documents. They should be allowed to continue their education.

Well they can always go to another school in the county or area. They're just expelled from that particular school.

I fully understand as to the nature of WHY they had these tests done because it was in their interest, and not some stupid rule made by men in ivory towers, their health is important and it's for their benefit, however I can understand their embarrassment, especially at their age and the penalty is far too stiff! (no pun intended) I'm sure a stern warning would have been suffice? Ok forging a doctors signature is a criminal offense per se, however in the circumstance I think a more fairer prudent punishment should have been passed.

Ok, deceit is never a good option. I can only imaging that it is another country since one I post this response made from email I will go to that link and see the whole story. Too bad they did not talk to their parents and the parents take a stand with their kids for this inspection. 7 days works for me since they faked a doctors signature. They have to learn that it costs them to do wrong.

I can understand the reasons they wanted to do this but if they forge documents in the real world there is some serious punishments that can go along with it. I can see the schools point cause it is a crime they committed.

Ya Know, I have quit trying to second guess anyone when it comes to what is proper behavior and punishment. It saddens me to see real criminals given such small penelties and people who have done nothing MAJOR wrong get punished harshly. Were is the justice in this? Society has gone crazy and it is just sad.

I have never heard of such an exam before. Strange in itself. The kids should be given suspension, not expulsion. Expelling is too harsh of a sentencing. This exam should be handled at a doctors office and not by the school nurse.

On one hand it may seem harsh. Not taking a test is one thing...however forging documents is quite another. I think that they needed to be taught a lesson and if expulsion will get the point across then I think it is warranted.

I don't agree. That's a little bit strange of a test to be required by a school in the first place. You realize how many different tests could be done by the school. There are 100's of diseases that each student may have. If you can see the reason why they wouldn't have to take all the other tests. Than how can you see the reason why they should take this one.

Unless they have a medical issue that doesn't let them take the test, they should take the test. In my opinion, the punishment was justified since the students also forged a signature, a criminal offense.

I fully understand how they must feel. I think that the students should have the option of going to their family physician if they are uncomfortable with the nurse at school. It is degrading enough to have your privates examined, at least give them an option. Was it a male nurse that was doing the test? I have to admit that I did not read this article, but I will go back and do so. Just on generalities, I feel that an option should be given. It is similar to getting a sports physical and you are not so intimidated.

I just read the article. I still think they should be given an option. The punishment is too severe.

Wow, never heard of that kind of test!! Is that like the scoliosis tests we had in junior high school? As far as them being expelled, they did forge a dr's name, which is a crime technically. I don't know, I'm hearing about all these kid's at my daughter's high school getting expelled from the school district for 365 days, for carrying Tylenol or ibuprofen for headaches. No exceptions. My how times have changed...

Ok my first thoughts, what the hell, my seconds thoughts are you kidding, and my last thought I'd fake that damn test too. Why in the hell are they looking at kids foreskin anyway? Thats got to be the sickest and strangest thing I've ever heard. I'm really glad I'm not Chinese right now.

I think its totally inaprpriate for schools to be doing this too, as I've mentioned, its supposed to be a place of learning, not a Doctors surgury or hospital.

I neve heard of an annual foreskin test, but I can't blame those students. I'm sure that is an embarassing procedure to some kids and it shouldn't be forced on them. I find it highly invasive and if anybody should be punished it should be the school for trying to force this on those boys.

This is a legitimate discussion, if you have nothing positive or constructive to add, then maybe you should go to other discussions here, theres plenty to choose from.

I think the school should as well expel them so they can start a new life in a new school. For me, i'd be too embarrassed to stay on after the school authorities find out that i'm too shy to show my private part and had to resort too this.

Why should they have to,? school isn't a Doctors surgery. I wouldn't take my car to a plumber to get fixed, how does a school fix health problems,? they're educaters, not Doctors.

Well, they obviously should be punished for forging a document. Expulsion seems a bit harsh, however. I don't know that it makes any difference what the test was for, although the test seems weird to me, too. Kids need to learn appropriate ways to protest/stand up for themselves. Forging documents is not standing up for themselves, it's sneaking around.

My son - I would never force my son to under go that type of humilation.
I knew this couldn't have happened in America. Why would students need to have their foreskin exam yearly. Are these doctors and school officals getting their rocks off on it of something? I find this wrong. I side with the students. They shouldn't be made to have someone exam their p*nis that closely unless something is wrong and they are having pain or some type of STD. I am glad I don't live in China. I believe that this is borderline molestation. There is no need for this type of year exam for children this young. Being expelled is way to hard of a punishment. The school looks worst by expelling them than what they would have if they did nothing. I am so glad I live in the USA.

Well I never heard of such a test but went and read the article. Not sure how I feel on that and won't really get into that situation. That being said though the kids are lucky all they got was expelled. They forged legal and medical documents. That's a crime and could be punished by jail time. They got off easy in my opinion. If there is a problem with the doing of the test then that should have been adressed not having them do a run around the law and try to get away with it.

i think the given punishment is enough for the students mistake..because it is in a law that o one will forged the signature of others but i think they are too young also so they need a special treatment or special orientation regarding the rules and regulation of the school and also the law of the country..

I've just heard about this foreskin exam, what does it do? And what is it for? Probably they should talk with the students first and should have a consent of the parents. So that the child could explain his parents if he/she is having problem with such test.. I felt bad for the students just for that incident they're expelled, probably they should just suspend the students for a week or so. Instead of that but maybe the administration thought of that because there were 7 of them involved.. But I would go to the students' side anyway, they're just shy about it I guess.. We just don't have to force people unless they would want to do it..
