I've wanted a quaker parrot for a long time, unfortunately they are illegal where I live. I've researched this and the basis for the law is completely unfounded. They claim that quakers are a threat to crops if they escape and start wild colonies.
First of all, quakers are like pigeons. They prefer to be in populated areas, not in rural farm areas. And secondly, it is in their nature to not spread very far from their original nesting site, so they can't take over large areas of land anyway.
This law is so unfair. I'd get a quaker from the next state except where I live they would put the bird to sleep if I was caught with it and I don't want that.
Does anyone else live in a state where quakers are illegal?
