I saw an auction for ice cream on ebay for $3.99. How do they expect someone to pay $50. for express shipping for ice cream? Are they for real?

Well the sad truth is many people sell things like this. What's even sadder is that people will actually bid on and pay for it....lol I sell little dog sweaters that I buy for 2.00 on sale. I list them usually at 5.99 with free shipping. One time I got 26.00 for a little 2.00 sweater that cost .87 to ship... People have money to burn I guess. I know I'm not one of them...lol It takes all kinds. Look at the guy from New York...he was selling snowballs and couldn't keep up with the demand a few months ago...beats me...lol

Well, that could be a business venture right up my alley! I could knit the sweaters and sell them. : )

That is adorable! It looks like a miniature of the sweater that I made for Troy, but without the hearts.

Anything goes when it comes to ebay. I have seen some pretty strange things for sale there. There is always some nut out there who will buy it. Course no matter how fast you ship ice cream, by the time it gets to you, you may be drinking it. I do buy some stuff from ebay but it is mainly things for the kitchen.

They are so expensive then they want to charge you for using that account too! shipping and handling is very expensive. I order some ink for my printer is was expensive just to get it shipped, your better off going through a store where you live.

They do say that you can buy anything you want on Ebay! We laugh when we see a carrot that is shaped like a persons face. "Hey, we can sell it on Ebay!"

They are for real. In fact I am surprised that it is going for $3.99. Many go for $1 instead - and the charge is on the shipping. The reason for this is that ebay takes a percentage of the profit of the price of the product. Take an example. This item costs $1 + $19 shipping. The other costs $19 with $1 shipping. In the latter example, the seller will earn less since ebay will take a percentage of the $19. So now, they sell the item at $1 (how much can ebay take.. ebay can take the whole $1 even for all they care), and earn from the $19 shipping that is all theirs to keep.

You are 100% right, but it doesn't seem like an auction anymore, does it?

It is illegal to seel food like that on ebay. The auction will most likely get canceled and the person will probably get in trouble with ebay for it.

I searched eBay one day and saw they were selling an 'air guitar'. Chocolate that sells for only $2 - 3 over here is for sale for over $10 plus freight. Please if anyone wants cadbury chocolate just PM me and I'll sell you some for half that! haha

Probably, since they were selling snow back a few months ago. Wonder if it was pick up only. Ice cream can't be that good to pay that amount of money either I think. I hope you find something reasonable on Ebay that you can buy. Good luck with that.

I have seen some very strange things for sale on ebay. And like the one lady said the worst part is people are actually bidding on this stuff. I saw a movie that sells in the store for $5.00 it sold for well over $20 and that did not include the shipping. I think that people need to take a step back and actually think about what they are bidding on and not get caught up in the rush. Check out what is being sold and what it is actually worth before you go nuts.

There is alot of weird stuff for sale on ebay. I guess anyone will sell anything on ebay if they thing there is a sucker out there that will buy it. Just like the slice of toast that had the image of christ on it.

$50 oh gosh! That is way to expensive! I admit that I do like Ice cream but no that much to pay $50 for the shippng. Sometimes you find stuff on E-bay so cheap and then when you see the Shipping and handling charges, they just blow you away.
