They say alcohol only hurts the person drinking it.

How has your life been effected by an alcoholic? Tell your story here. I was 4 and a half when my story occurred. My mother was an alcoholic. My dad was yelling at her that she could either stop drinking and be a loving mother and wife, or leave. That was they day she left. I was standing by their closet with my baby blanket, watching her throw stuff into giant cardboard boxes. I threw in my blanket. She took it back out. I threw it back in. She asked me why I was doing that. "I don't want you to forget me when you leave." She smiled and promised she wouldn't. She was moving less than a mile away. But she didn't talk to me for 8 months following the day she left. I will never forget that day. I was so sad. Luckily, almost 13 years later and 7 miles further away, she has entered Alcoholics Anonymous, as of March 1st. Before last week, I had never seen my mother sober, honestly. Things are much better now. So don't tell me that they only effect their lives.

I guess it does affect many peoples lives. If some people get together, then maybe they should discuss it. If you are considering getting with somebody who you suspect of being one, doesn't it make sense to check it out?

awww...no i agree with you...what about innocent people that have been killed by drunk drivers? These people (and their families) have had their life altered by people that thought they were only hurting themselves... glad to hear about your mom tho
