Ground Black Peppers, Anyone?

Last week, I cooked meal for lunch as usual. Much to my surprise, when I added some ground black pepper to the soup, the pleasant tasting concoction became somewhat bitter. I talked to a friend on this concern. Then I got a shocking information.
Some unscrupulous businessmen take hold of dried papaya seeds, grind them and mix a sizeable amount of this thing to what used to be pure ground black pepper. I must have bought their product. Papaya seeds will always give that bitter taste no matter how much it appears to be just like black peppers when ground. Oh, my. Where are these people's conscience? Is there anyone here who has fallen their victims, too?
Now, I buy a pack of whole seeds. I can pound on them and break them into some pieces suitable enough for the purpose of having that peppery taste in soups.

If it's the pure ground black pepper you'll get, it will give you that peppery taste which will also cause the food to taste a little more hot and spicy than the usual way we have. If it isn't, it will make the food a little bitter. To play safe, use a little all the time.

It's good that this has not happened in your area. It's really bad if somebody tampers with food items.

i know someone who grows black peppers as one way of earning for a living in their province. and they say it's true. some people really add grounded papaya seeds to serve as extenders. ofcourse, the ground pepper-ground papaya seed mixture no longer gives the good taste the pure ground pepper is supposed to have. sad but true. there are lots of businessmen who do not have the conscience to be just honest in any way possible.

Those unscrupulous businessmen are not thinking of their business in the long run. If people will realize that they are selling adulterated items, the buyers will stay away from their products, and their business is thus bound for a collapse.

I have an old container with already ground pepper somewhere in my pantry. I'll use it only if I run out of the black beads of real black pepper. You should see me when I'm refilling my grinder. I'll pick up every single seed because it's worth it's weight in gold. I have to use fresh ground pepper on nearly everything because I love the spicey peppery flavour it gives.
As to your papaya mix, I've never heard of it. But, it comes to no supprise as I'm a distrubutor of Tahitian Noni Juice. There's 273 different brands of noni out there, but 40% doesn't have a drop of the noni juice in it.

My children love the spicy and peppery taste in foods that's why I don't want to run out of this item at home. Recently, I bought the whole seeds kind. I don't grind them because I don't have a grinder. What I do is ppounce on them a little and I use them that way as broken black pepper seeds. It's still fine doing this however, the pepper particles are much too visble.

I remember about the noni juice. Many around here buy the stuff. Now, what you told me is some bad news. I know now why there are some brands which they say is not effective.

my roomie is always putting pepper in things - I keep telling her that pepper causes an allergic reaction. Well, it took actually seeing a blister on the inside of my lip to convince her that if I'm going to eat something, she needs to hold off or go very light on the stuff. I've never like it anyway - mildew smells like pepper to me.

Yes, I know many have an allergy to ground black pepper. The whole black peppers are less allergenic. The powder are like dusts which once we smell them, cause us to inhale some particles. That is more like the explanation for it. When the dust-like pepper particles land on our skin, you can be sure that there will be a consequent reaction coming about a little later.

Oh, sorry to hear that you got cheated. I didn't know such things exist. I am a black peppers fan. So it quite easy for me to distinguise between the goods and very hot pepper with the bad one. This at least give us some clue that such thing do exist, a lot of people just cheat others to get rich. :(. I hope you will be more carefully the next time you purchase them.

I have decided to buy the whole black pepper seeds. They cannot sell adulterated ones this way.
