When I was growing up, The only time a man wore a tie was when he went to church, wedding or a funeral. Seems all the guys had a tough time tying their ties. They would work on it for a long time to get it just right. I always wondered how they did it. When I got married, I found out that there are several ways to tie a tie and unless they wore one often, they would just leave it tied until they put it on again. Then all they had to do was tighten it up again. I have seen many men keep the directions cut out of magazines in their drawer to tie their tie when they needed it. I had no idea that there were so many ways to tie a tie. There is the Double tie knot, Small tie knot, Atlantic tie knot, Diagonal tie knot, Half English tie knot, English tie knot, Italian tie knot, Turkish tie knot, simple tie knot, Oriental tie knot, Persian tie knot and so many more. The best part is that they are on this page with full instructions on how to tie them. Just scroll down the page to see them all. There is also a side menu with tons of helpful sections like How to Tie a Tie, The Bow Tie, The Ascot, History of the tie and so many more cool things about ties. How to Tie a Tie This section gives you more than a diagram to follow. It teaches you how to look in the mirror and correctly tie your tie through detailed instructions. The Bow Tie This is very different than your traditional tie knot. It has the instructions on how to tie the bow tie in this section. You can also learn the history of the bow tie. Bet you don’t know that? The Ascot In this section, you can learn not only how to tie the Ascot, but also what the history is behind it and how it varies between American and England. History It is here that you can learn the history and legend behind the neck tie. From its earliest origins to modern day, It is interesting how has the neck tie evolved over the ages from a simple band of cloth around the neck to a complex knotted bit of silk. Neckclothitania The Neckclothitania was published in 1818 as part of a satirical document. Here you can see the neck ties of the time as they were and in its original text. This is the cool part. You can see how the tie has evolved to the ones you see most today. Oh Yeah, Don’t forget to check out the sections on Tie Language, Care Tips and even the Video Guides on how to tie certain ties. Are you ready to test your skills in the tie tying world? http://www.krawattenknoten.info/krawatten/Krawattenknoten/tieknot.html

I'm surprised by yur opening about men rarely wearing ties. My grandfathers, father and husband all had dozens of them and wore them at least 6 days a week--to the office and church. The standard four-in-hand knot is how they always wore them; it's the only way accepted at offices.

Connie , this is really interesting . I went to look at the website, and I couldn't figure out which one my husband uses. They all looks a lot a like . I guess I will have to ask him sometime . I learned to tie a tie at one point after we got married, but since I have don't really have any need for that knowledge, I have since forgotten it .

I only know how to tie a bow tie really well, since it is the only kind I ever wear, but i guess if my life depended on it I could do other knots.
