I live in the country, and I have been trying this week to get our yard ready for spring/summer. The grass and weeds have already begun to take over. Like around the barn, the fence rows, under the boat & utility traler, not to mention around all my bushes & shrubs. I used a round-up type poison last year and had to use it twice to get anything killed, but in the process I killed too much grass. Any suggestions? I was wondering what different products might also work. So I'm open for suggestions.

Last year I had to spray twice before it would kill them. They grew back! But then they have been let to grow for years before I came on the scene :) I seem to have more weeds than grass at this point. I thought about some of the weed and feed stuff they sell, but feel I would be wasting my time, I have 2 acres to do. Maybe I can start around my house first and go from there. I just want to keep it away from my bushes and foundation mostly. Thanks for sharing with me.

I remember when I had my house and all the weeds I had to contend with. It seemed we were always at war and it really came back as a stale mate. I used orgnic methods and they seemed to work better than the regular weedkillers. There are a lot of recipies on the net for such. Hope you find a solution.

I've used a cheap knock-off weed killer from Wal-Mart for the last 2 years and have had great luck with it. I did find that the most important thing is the weeds need to be dry (don't do it first thing in the morning) and no rain for at least a day. One time I bought the stuff but ended up being 2 weeks before I could use it because of rain on and off.
