Hey, so I'm not actually a member of GenX by most definitions (just by a couple years), but I came across a really interesting book called "Virtual Faith: The Irreverent Spiritual Quest of Generation X" which was written by a GenXer, Tom Beaudoin. Anyways, while discussing GenX's approaches to religion, he also tries to pin down cultural icons for Generation X. Several of the ones I remember range from Pac Man to Knight Rider to Atari and the beginning of MTV. So I wanted to ask, what part of the culture shaped your childhood and teen years the most? Was it the grunge look or a Flock of Seagulls haircut? Did you watch Little House on the Prairie or The Day After? Did nuclear war drills happen in school?

Yes, we had nuclear war drills, we had planes flying over the school doing sonic booms. I remember (vaguely) the Cuben Missle Crisis. I remember very well JFK's assisation. As you can see, I'm a baby boomer. I do remember all those things you listed, but I was in my 30's by then.
