Base on my opinion, it helps to earn you much better when you post quality discussions and respond more than 4 lines.
Yesterday, i got into a certain discussions, when someone advise such. I tried it, and i think he's right i earn more even if i don't post many responses. I just make sure that i post quality response and i've discuss it in length with relevance to the topic.
Try this and see for your self.
Goodluck!

Even if we give a one liner response , we do get credit for it.But the thing is that one liner discussions like what do you think, etc. or which is you favorite colour? , personally I don't like these discussions. If a person is starting a discussion then one should give some account of what he/she himself thinks , not just ask others a question. As far as response is concerned if one is giving a response to a discussion like what is your favourite colour? he can only name the colour and give one more sentence for why he likes that colour. So what I am trying to say is sometimes one liner discussions can have only one liner response, so we can't say that they are not guality responses.
