Snow, or no snow? What is your favorite winter time memory?

We lived in Minnesota for a few years and I can remember lots of snow and fun times in it with our children. I also remember walking to school in the snow while living in Nebraska -- not so much fun when you are tired, cold and wet. We now live where there is little snow and most of it melts within a day or two and I am actually finding myself missing it.

I think after this year it will take a while for me to actually begin to miss the snow we had roughly 20 inches of snow and more in one week. I am so happy to see it all starting to melt, but or small streams and creeks are starting to flood which isn't good either haha. I look forward til I move to somewhere different.

Growing up, there was one vacant lot between our house and the next one on the street. When my father would use the snowblower to clear our driveway, he would send it all into the vacant lot and he made a big hill for us kids in the neighborhood to use for tobogganing. It was great fun and a safe place for us all to play and we all loved it. One year, he and my best friend's father (on the other side of the vacant lot) also made us a skating rink at the back of the lot. Every night, they would go out with their hoses and water it for us so we always had the best ice for skating... much better than the skating rink that our community provided for sure! It was a nice little "winter park" and a very fond memory.
