Who here is type 1 diabetic? When did you get it?

I got diabetes when I was 7 years old. I currently only know one other Type 1 anywhere but tons and tons of type 2's. How does it affect you? Anybody had it a really long time? I've had it 18 years this month and I see a few of the telltale signs like dry skin and vision being a bit wonky.
