What do you do in long summer afternoon?

Hello friend,
As the summer is around the cornner, I am again going to face the same problem. I don't know what to do in long afternoon. I even don't have the habit of sleeping in the afternoon. tell me my friends what do you do in the long summer afternoon.

Well being a first time stay at home mom, I'll be spending it with my son outdoors mostly, probably at the local parks, local outdoor swimming pool, at the beach if we can get to one. I'm new to the USA, so I'm sure they have summer camps for kids too but I'm not sure what is involved with them and whether parents go along on the camps as well. Picnics are a good thing for the summertime too!
