do you know how huge texting is in the Philippines? everybody owns a mobile phone. it has become a staple in everybody's lives. it is mostly huge on teenagers where textmates are mainly the reason why. a lot of people has hooked up and even got hitched through texting. it's not always a good thing though because even kids are getting too much freedom from this. i just hope parents and responsible adults are vigilant enough to supervise-but not invade their kids' privacy-the young ones so that no abuse is done.

It's like that here in the states as well and has been for some time now. When I went back home to germany last year.....seems like that's all my sister was doing when she wasn't talking on the phone. The bad thing about it is.....that some people even use the abriviations in writing emails now.It really took me some time to get used to that and I always feel stupid for having to ask what something means.Call me oldfashioned.....but if you have the space to type....you should write the complete word. Kids seem to have way more freedom now....then what I did when I was growing up and it's up to the adults to keep them safe....even if that means invading their privacy just a bit.

there's no need to abbreviate words in email cuz we don't need to save space. we can write as long as we want and we won't get charged for it. in cellphones however, there's a lot of need to minimize space since there's a limit to how much text we can write. you won't believe the inventions of words out here. the young ones especially are very smart with it. anyways, it's a matter of getting the hang of it. it can be fun.
