Insurance policy on Motor cycles not worth taking

Some say taking insurance policy on motor cycles is not worth though it is not compulsory. In the event of accident, claming compensation is not a easy task. I like to share your experience in this matter?

I have lost a motorcycle in 1999 as I was inside a building in a pool to play snooker and somebody grabbed my keys of the bike from key hanging stand and went on with my bike . Bike CBZ from hero honda was just one month old and I bought it for some 56,000 rs. INR some 1800$ and you know what i received from insurance company only 42,000 rs. INR and was very depressed.
Immediately what I did was bought a maruti 800 and I admit compensation from insurance company are negligable.
