It would help if you have seen them live, but all are welcome to contribute. My short list would begin with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They have grown on me over the years, and Stadium Arcadium is possibly the best recording of the current decade. Anthony Kiedis is not my cup of tea, but i understand his appeal to the ladies. U2 has been my favorite band for over 20 years. They are as close to musical perfection as it gets. But since there is one more spot, as you might guess there is a new musical love in my life. I just saw Widespread Panic live two days ago, and I'm still not believing it. They simply put on the best live show I've ever seen, and the relationship with their fans is amazing. What is your Top 3, and why?

I have been the biggest Everclear fan for years. I own everything I can find on them (tees, CDs, posters, calendars) and was really upset that I missed the one Canadian show they put on that was close to me (Edgefest a few years ago), so I didn't get to see them before they disbanded. Art restarted Everclear again a year or so ago, but Craig and Greg went on to other projects, so he's the only original member, and I don't like the new sound.
Green Day was a big one for me, too. I grew up in the early 90's grunge movement, and it wasn't my scene, but Green Day was an infectious burst of poppy punk on the scene. I'm not the hugest fan of the new stuff, but I still support them. I saw them live a few years ago and they put on an INCREDIBLE show. It was a very happy night for me.
Third Eye Blind is my third. They haven't done much recently, but Stephen Jenkins' voice makes me all tingly, and their debut album is one of the only CDs I can just put on and listen to, beginning to end.
Good discussion!

Thanks, I really was into Third Eye in the '90's also!

As a musician this is hard to narrow down. Today my top three are:
1. Billy Joel, because I was raised in NY. I also like his less popular songs or should I say the ones that are less cliche. I don't often listen to him anymore but he still holds my attention.
2. Alanis Morissette - my all-time muse.
3. Rufus Wainwright - amazing orchestrations.

I loved the 70's Joel. I do like Alanis, but I chuckle every time I see her name because I used a music review of "Pill" in my writing classes in '95 to show my students how off some "critics" are. This guy did a scathing review, called it mockingly "Wretched Little Ill". Guess he had to swallow that one!

Nickelback is my favorite band because their songs are meaningful and positive and they inspire me. I also enjoy Anna Nalick because she is so down to earth, the fame has not gone to her head as has happened to many famous musicians. There are many other bands I like...I don't know what would be third...maybe goo goo dolls

While I have heard Nalick's "Breathe' a few times too many, I really like "In the Rough"
