Should people post their children's photo on the net?

I have noticed that on this site as well as many others there are people who post their children's photo's on the web. In this day & age, is that really a good idea? I mean most of us go to great lengths to protect our children from online perverts & yet we post their photos like an advertisement to them. I am not trying to offend anyone, I am just curious. I am very proud of my kids and would love to post their photos so everyone could see them, but I am uneasy doing this because I know that there are all kinds of people out there that could maybe take advantage of them. Just by reading this site they know what city I live in and with a few clicks they could get my name and address. Is it really a good idea to post kids photo's? Not to mention that when they get older they may not want their baby photo's on the net. Anyway, this is my opinion, that and $7.00 will get you a coffee! LOL

Congrats on your proposal, I guess now-a-days you have to be cautious in every aspect of your life.

I only post my kids photos on sites that are password protected and can only be seen by people I give the web address to. In instances where I can't make the pictures viewable by only the people I choose, I make sure the pictures are of their face only and my location is not shown.

I am glad that you are careful. These days an ounce of precaution is worth a pound of cure.
