Two people in their eighties were touring an apartment complex that was desgned for retired adults-with good income. It was luxurious and beautiful and had alot of services to make life comfortable and fun and easy for people who would be driving less or not at all, not up to cooking 3xa day and so on. It included guest rooms and kitchen/dining rooms for private family meals for when relatives come to visit or share a holiday whatever. The place was rejected summarily by the couple and the reason they gave was rude and surprising. "Too many q-tips in there". I asked "What??" and they explained-white haired people.I fell down laughing. they were white haired people but they didn't think so. "Who wants to be around old people all the time?"they asked me sneeringly. I suggested that perhaps people who were reality based, but it was no go. Just as well. It got me to thinking. I've had a penchant for younger lovers. When I realized that to some people my use of the word younger to mean 20 years or more was shocking, I decided to ask what is your take on age and aging? I hate it when people say years young like 60 years young. I want to clobber them. would you call a baby three months young? So I'm not looking for PC answers here. to ask this, I have to know my own feelings on the matter. so, I will share them now. Many of my clients for facial treatment are old- nnot necessarily in years but in condition, and sadly often in mindset. I dislike when someone has had the benefit of living sixty years or more without growing up or out much, mentally. My favorite person to come in for a facial recently was a woman who looked about fifty, and was seventy and it wasn't her genes, it was her intense interest in the world we are in , it was her joy of living. She was the zing in my day all week.I would love to meet a man my age or older who really loves life. I feel glad I got to see what most people I knew can only read about, glad I tasted and saw and heard the world as it was; glad that I was a bright kid so I paid attention. I have a friend I've had since we were twelve. We never see each other, but we write now and then and always at Christmas. Some years more, some less, but she's still special to me. We've shared alot. i like young people too but hate the patronizing oh god, age is not painful so I don't want to be patronized. Its not without romance, or desire, or dreams, or new plans, either. So how do you feel about the elderly?
