I'm really asking psychics with this one-do you read for your friends?

I read tarot cards in a small shop near my home. I have been doing readings for -I don't know-ever. I love it, I have a knack for it. Its gratifying work. I don't like to read for friends. not because I'm mean and selfish but because i know them so well, and share with them their hopes and dreams and am too likely to be biased in my interpretation of things. Refusing to see problems, and grasping at straws to reassure them of coming good fortune, etc. In point of fact, my real readinngs for them come out of the blue, when we're talking or whatever and I'll see something they need to know about. This week-end I read for a friend, and I dreaded it, but once there i had managed to distance myself enough to give her a fair and honest reading. What do you do?

I have no knack for cards at all. I'm much better with scrying. with a mirror, a ball or any number of improvised surfaces.

Are you comfortable reading for friends? Or do you only read for clients?

I don't really use it like that. scrying is a much less consistant thing, really. I use it for ideas, and if they relate to anyone else I'll pass it on.

I find it much easier to read for clients than friends. I think that is because we know so much about friends that we 'interpret' what we think is relevant rather than leaving it up to them to relate it to their own circumstances. Sometimes our friends don't 'tell all' and that's where I find things confusing. Fortunately, they generally use that lack of clarity on my part to 'come clean' and in the end still reap the real benefit of the session.

I'm so sorry I didn't read your comment when you made it. I was away from Mylot for awhile. Just ran across is and found it to be exactly right- I'm sure that you also find clients aren't strangers once the reading begins, but you aren't as caught up in their problems, hopes and dreams as you are with long term friends. I never want to see misfortune in my friends cards unless I see a way to avoid it. My dearest friends often ask- and I answer- but its a frustrating things. I think I edit my own vision unaware that I am doing it. there are three other readers in town that I know of and wouldn't send anyone to them because - they just haven't impressed me as being worth the time. I'd enjoy reading more from you about your experience as a reader.

I provide The Council for Witch friends who are Councelors themselves... The amount of psychic dross they pick up from reading others or poor relationships is sickening if it's not removed... These days, I rarily provide Council for "Normals" or non-Witches, I'll serve them in other ways so that i keep myself "clear" for the health of my Witch family... May Joy, Abundance and Peace be with you! :) Merry Meet and Blessed Be! :)

I don't mean to sound that way. The word "Cowan" is unfamiliar to many and I didn't want to use a term that people may not know the meaning of... As most people here on MyLot know, I really live up to my username by serving All and slighting none...

don't you think it's a bit patronising to call them normals?

well really, I think that's just as patronising a term.

I have tried to learn tarot...and it just doesn't seem to be my thing. I have even tried for myself...but I seem to be biased in my own thoughts that I never seem to be willing to accept what I think I am reading or questioning if I am reading them correctly. I have given interpretations to people of dreams and such of what I feel. But it works better when I do not know the person. I am always fearful of using the wrong words with friends so I most often do not say anything. So, I understand the, you not wanting to read for friends. I do not guide many people. I am not confident enough. I fear that they will question my sanity. ha ha But once a few years ago, my partner had an asst manager that was plagued with dreams and was upsetting him. Turns out, my partner told him that I could help guide him without talking to me first. So there we were, driving down the road when he received a phone call and he responded with "Yes, this is a good time." Then he held the phone out to me saying one of his assts needed help with dreams and he knew I could help. Wow! I was really upset at him putting me on the spot! But I found that because I did not know him, I was able to give him a very accurate reading of what was happening in his current life and what his dreams were trying to tell him. I really surprised myself and honestly, had to think my partner for making me release my gift. :)

card reading was passed down to me from my grandmother- both the techniques and the "gift" but my sister who tried it and got nowhere with it is so brilliant at interpreting dreams- incredibly gifted at it. - about her- she disregarded alot of her ability but at middle age she went back to school and became a psychologist. In that framework and at the graduate school she attended which was very supportive of unafiliated spirituality she came into her own with confidence. She participates in dream workshops frequently , more for the validation and interaction with others like herself. But her insights have been of enormous help to me and many others. Dream work is a very special gift.I will post a special topic on cards and dreams as I have lot to say on this subject. And hope for your feedback on both. I always am glad for your in put. You have one of the big gifts.
