What would YOU do?

In our town, we do a dump day, where people can put their old garbage out on the curb, anything large or needing to be dumped directly to a location, and they the City picks it up. My wife and I arrived home yesterday from work to find that someone has dumped their garbage on our pile. Now, let's first remember that we pay, as citizens of our city, a fee per month for this pickup. Of course, payback is the sweetest revenge. This person left a box from a package that was delivered to her home. There is a name, address, phone number, all of this lady's information. Should we go to the home (it's not too far down from where we live) and take her garbage back? should we call her and yell at her? it would not be that big of a deal, it's all garbage. But she dumped it messily, and she also blocked our normal parking space. Now my wife barely had any room to park our car on the curb and this dumb lady didn't have the courtesy to just add it to our pile, she dumped it in the middle of our spot. What would you do?

Aws! that woman must be nurturing the barbarian in her.. lol well, I supposed your neighborhood doesn't welcome people of this kind... you better call her and ask her to pick her mess up the soonest, and let her know what hassles she has done to you and your wife...I supposed if she had just done that the right way, like asked you if she can hitch with you for the pick-up coz she hasn;t paid the fees yet..then that would make things smooth...

I've actually considered calling the town police dept. and reporting this to them as "illegal dumping." i mean, she left her address and phone number on a package at the site, so I have to wonder whether or not that can be considered illegal. If it is, I could easily report it to the police and get her fined with the city.

Yah, I was hoping they would, too, but I just called and they cannot do anything about this situation. I would think there would be someone I could call to report this to because this really gets to me. They not only dumped on our pile, but made a mess in front of our home. You're very right, if she had just done it neatly and the right way, then this wouldn't be a problem. I am really agitated about this, probably more than I should be... although it has been fun thinking of devious revenge schemes.

Am not so sure though if the police department would consider that illegal... but I hope they would since you guys have paid some taxes just to get rid of your bulky garbages, and here's this woman who is showing up rudely trying to get a free pick up.... :P but if you wanna be kind and spare the woman from the odds of paying a lot bigger fines, you can just call her and have her do what she needs to do with her stuffs there. but if she remained indifferent, well then give her the consequences due her. :P

take the package and her stuff back, and say this was delivered to our home as a mistake. I am sure you wanted it ALL back!!!!

HAhaha... I have to admit, that's my first instinct. Its a bit of a inconvenience to do so, but it's also to prove a point. I mean, it wouldn't have even been an issue had she just added it to my pile... it probably would have gone unnoticed. But she literally spread it all over the sidewalk in front of our home... And if you are going to dump something in someone's neighborhood, wouldn't you know better than to leave anything with any type of address? I mean, come on... that has to do with "dumbest" move.

I would actually call the woman up and ask her to not do that again - in a nice not angry way. just explain what a mess she caused and that she also blocked your way. Also tell her that u pay for this and give her the number to where she can order a space of her own =)

That would be nice way of dealing with it. Except that she can't order a space of her own. I live in the same neighborhood as thrwbckjay67, and it's a neighborhood-wide dump day. Each neighborhood has their own day, and each participating neighborhood pays a tax for it, which is added to the utility bill. Not all neighborhoods participate, so I can understand people coming to add their stuff to existing piles. But, this lady spread out all of her stuff to cover the entire curb. And, she doesn't even live there! She could have just as easily added her pile to his or ours and not taken up any more curb space...

You know, it's funny... I have the information, the address and the phone number, I have the desire to sign her up for all kinds of "free" giveaways and telemarketing stuff, just because I am a spiteful person... hehehe... vebela is right, she's a friend from the same town. I mean, she knows what goes on here. people can dump, that's fine, I mean... like I said in my original post, it's all garbage. but the manner that it was done and the mess left at my home, I feel like it's my civic duty to let this person know who they are messing with. then again, I could call angrily, then report her to the city for illegal dumping.
