Why do some cops lie?

I was going through an intersection on a late green light which turned yellow. As I completed the intersection the light turned red. A police officer that spotted me claims that I ran a red light. He was watching me from the opposite direction and could not see what I saw. The light was not red until I cleared the intersection, and the officer is lieing. Don't you just hate it when a cop lies??

I have never ran into this problem but would be very upset if I did as it would be hard to prove you were innocent without a witness . I can't imagine why a cop would do this unless it was a new cop who was trying to get his quota for the day as when they first start they have so many people they are supposed to ticket ( not sure the reason for this ) . I can't stand when we get a new cop around here as you have to watch everything you do because even one little infraction will be a cause to have you ticketed a bunch of money . I have been lucky and never had to pay a fine but it still makes one nervous when you see a cop around as you never know if they are in a good mood for the day or if they are new and looking for someone to fine .

We have to face the inevitable fact that not all of us are honest. This means anybody, any job, any teacher, lawyer, doctor, garage mechanic, fireman, technician, computer operator, police officer....anyone can be a less than honest person when they have ulterior motives in their personal life, or just to make a quota, or just because they are plain compulsive liars, or they want to make themselves look good. There is corruption everywhere. We may not know what to do about it, but we have to remind ourselves that not everyone is dishonest either. Maybe a lawyer could help you with your situation. Good luck.

Yes, unfortunately you are correct. I think lawyers are some of the worst crooks around, but I will look into it. Thank you for your comments.
