What do you put on pasta besides tomato sauce?

We just had porkchops in barbecue sauce on spaghetti. I love this. I also love a good alfredo sauce. Sometimes I make an oriental type sauce with a soy sauce base. A couple times I have made pesto with oregano from my garden. You get tired if you eat it the same way all the time right?

Here is a white pasta sauce that we really enjoy: Linguine With White Clam Sauce 1 large onion, chopped 4 cloves garlic, minced 1/3 cup olive oil 2 10-ounce cans baby clams, juice reserved 8-ounce bottle clam juice 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch White pepper and salt to taste 4 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped 3 tablespoons Parmesan cheese 1 pound linguine, cooked al dente Chop onions and garlic; set aside. Drain clams, placing juice from the can in a measuring cup large enough to hold 2 cups liquid. Add bottled clam juice to can liquid; set aside. In a large frying pan, saute onions and garlic until tender (do not brown). Add 1 cup of the liquid, pepper and parsley. Cover, with lid slightly tilted; simmer slowly about 15 minutes. Add cornstarch to the remaining 1 cup juice (we whisked these ingredients together to prevent lumps) and gradually add to the onion-garlic mixture. Cook until thickened (about 10 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally). Add Parmesan cheese, stir, then add clams and stir until the clams are warm, about 5 minutes. Note: If the clams are cooked longer than 5 minutes they may become tough.

I buy different varieties of sauce. Our favorite right now is a vodka sauce, I also love creamier sauces. In college, I often just melted butter over pasta noodles. I think it's kind of gross now. But I will do olive oil mixed with spices, instead of tomato sauce when I want a change. I also often cook vegetables in the sauce, like zucchini or brocolli to add something new to the dish.

Most of the time we use pasta-- meatballs and pasta- Sometimes we use Cheese. I've even tried using clam chowder-- over spaghetti noodles-- It's pretty good for a change up. Stewed tomatoes and onions and peppers are also good- Of course their is alfredo sauce too- I'm not big on this one- it's a bit rich for me. I would have to say my favorite is spaghetti, pasta sauce (Ragu- super chunky mushroom) and big meatballs with paremsan cheese-- YUM!

Clam chowder sounds good and easy. Cheap way to get clam sauce!

As the noodles are boiling, I'll take a frying pan and warm up some extra virgin olive oil and brown some garlic and perhaps some onions...and some red pepper flakes. I make enough to coat the noodles. Then I'll use some parmasane cheese and freshly ground pepper. Now that's delicious.

Most of the time it'll either be homemade plain tomatoe sauce, or homemade meat sauce. Once in a while, we have that alfredo or rosee sauce also.

I love Alfredo sauce on my pasta's. I also often will simply put butter and garlic on top of pasta. Also, some Italian dressing creates a great side dish on top of any pasta. You're right... who wants boring tomato sauce all the time!?

I like pasta salads in the summer. Usually I use regular and spinach bowties combined, chopped red and green pepper, minced garlic and sliced black olives with a nice Italian oil and vinegar based dressing, generously dressed with parmesan cheese.

I LOVE pesto sauce on pasta. I'm planning on getting some planters for my patio just to grow fresh basil for pesto! Homemade alfredo sauce is also good, except that my hubby's got a dairy allergy. For something different and very fast and easy, I sometimes put various salad dressings on pasta (try ranch, french, or italian, they're all good and very different!).

Have you tried cheese? If you are a cheese lover, then pasta and cheese go very well. Otherwise, I would just take it as it is.

Actually one of my favorite things to do with pasta (because I end up getting easily bored with tomato sauce and I do not want the extra calories from Alfredo sauce) is add olive oil and salt and pepper. It is very simple. It tastes good. And it is very light on the stomach. It is also a very different flavor and feel from the normal tomato sauce. Pest sauce is also excellent but you actually have to go out to get it, or you can make it at home from herbs and olive oil if you know how. I prefer the oil, salf, and pepper combination for their ease of use and light taste. Try it and see what you think.

I also love pasta! Try using the black ink of the squid. Just saute it with garlic and onion. Then make a crunchy squid rings to top it all.
