What do you do on your old things? I used to store my old things on a storage room and years have passed and I realized that it just keeps on piling up and really has been relegated as junk. So, how bout you? What do you do on your old things?

When I accumulate too much "junk" I set one hour a week to work on it. If you try to do it all at one time you will get discouraged and give up, or you may risk throwing away something that really should be kept. Think of it as whittling yourself a totem pole. You just do a little bit at a time, but, eventually, your goal will be accomplished.

Yes stringbean. Some people even need an organizer to help them get rid of the junk. One step at a time .. that's the key.

Usually before packing it up and storing it somewhere I will weigh the possibilities of it ever being used again somewhere down the road. If I don't think I will ever be using it again and there still can be use to be had out of it, and after I get a decent pile of this stuff that I can't use, but maybe someone else can I will gather it all up and have a yard sale. What I don't sale at the yard sale will go online and auctioned off to raise money for charitable causes.

I haven't tried yard or garage sale yet but I'll do so in the future. Haven't tried online as well.

I am a pack rat. I am sentimental. I keep everything. However, I am trying to change that. Right now, I have boxes of things everywhere. After going through things, I will give what I feel I can part with to my husband and he takes it to a charity or a homeless shelter.

I clean my house (as in takong everything out and sorting things out) 1 a month that way I am sure that the things I dont need are disposed of and the things I need are taken care off. Papers go to recycling, clothes (say summer clothes in winter) if they can be worn again are packed in the spare bedroom if they are too small I ask someone if they need them if not they go to charity, things that cant be worn go to the garage so my husband will use them for cleaning. Other rhings that I dont need I ask anyone if they wont them if not they go to charity as well.

I just keep old things in a box, there are times when you'll need these things again. Some old things like used clothings are donated to the church for distribution to indigent communities. Some are sold to junk shops.

My old things and clothes are up for sale right now lol Im holding a garage sale lately since i am moving out and i cant believe the amountof old stuff i have piled in my closet. The items around the house are also still there. I guess i am like my mom who isnt into throwing things which we think might still be useful even if they ended up just clutters rather than of any help:P

When I realize that I have something I no longer need, for whatever reason, I do a few things with it. If it's of any value and I really don't need it, I try to sell it on ebay. If it's not something sellable, I may give it to charity, if it's something I know a local charity will use. If not, I post it on a forum called "freecycle" to see if anyone else can use the item. If not, I recycle it. I do everytyhing I can to keep it out of the trash. Better yet, I think really hard before I even buy anything, wondering if I really need it before I buy it, and end up giving it away in a year.

I have a room in the attic where we keep some old discarded furniture, clothes, stuff that are too good to be thrown away, but we have no room for in our apartment. We will be moving to a farm soon, and i think some of the stuff may come in handy when we move. But a lot of it should have been put to recycling a long time ago, i am sure. It is not easy to say no to furniture from grandparents and parents - even harder to trhow it away

i seem to collect so much stuff it is sad. when i finally say enough is enough and start getting rid of things first i go through them and see if i have anything that might sell on ebay. i put them in a pile. then i see what might be ok for a yard sale. there is another pile. then i box up the rest and call friends to see if they want it or know someone who does. then i list it on freecycle for my city and see if i can get someone to pick it up. if all fails it goes to a shelter that does not have a thrift store attached to it. salvation army etc does good work for people dont get me wrong but around here if they think they can sell it it goes to there store insted of to needy people. i try to find people that can use it.

I just let them go piling up, lol. :P But when I do spring cleaning once a year, I would either dump them or try to shove them to someone else. And after that, the cycle continues. ;-)

i choose the things i have to throw away and things i have to give away. if the item is still usuable i will just give it relatives or friends. especially if it's worth something. but it's not usable i just throw it. i don't like storing or keeping things that i don't have use of. i hate it everytime i see things i won that i don't really use. i just want them thrown away immediately. i will not want them cluttering my place.

i have so many old stuff in my place. but i just throw things of my personal items. the items of my family i don't throw away even if it's not useful. but my stuff they just immediately go to the thrash to free my cabinet and room of clutter.

if those things are still worth selling then maybe im going to have a garage sale for it..and those who are not worth then have to give to charitable institutions or throw it all away..

Oh yeah I sure do. I still have all my board games from the 60's and 70's Barbie dolls and clothes. I even kept some of my clothes and they are in a good condition. My husband says that I keep everything well I guess I do.

Before we moved to USA in Aug 06, we pretty much sold everything and gave away what we didn't need. We just bought some clothes and a few personal items with us and the rest was given away. Usually if i do find things around the house, I give them away, sell them or dump them.
