I like to give my 4 year old apple slices, granola mix or bars, dry cereal (he loves this), Also, you can make little finger sandwiches. My boy LOVES to help me make snacks for our picnic when we go to the park or the beach. We pack a blanket and he helps me to make the sandwiches, we use tuna or PB and J, or sometimes egg salad. He also likes pickled eggs, dill pickles, orange slices, green pepper slices, carrot and celery sticks (we usually take a little bit of cheez whiz or sour cream dip, or peanut butter-my boy chooses) in a little tuperware container.
In other words we make a little lunch out of it. He loves helping me get everything together and packing it in the basket. Then when we get to the park or beach he will play for a bit and he will invite his friends/new friends over for a picnic.

You have a lot of great ideas! How do you make pickled eggs? I have not heard of that before and do not know how to make them. I think my kids would probably enjoy them.

Pickled eggs....
You boil your eggs and then you peel them.
Then you put them in mason jars, well just about any glass jar will work. You then pour pickle juice overtop right to the top (well a litle under the top) of the jar. You put the lid on and let it sit for (I recommend 2 week) in your fridge.
When they are ready you can just eat them, or you can make sandwiches with them, they add a nice little zing instead of just regular egg salad.
**If you don't have dill pickle juice you can use vinegar. Do not dilute the vinegar, just fill the jar with vinegar. I know it sounds yucky but the eggs will only have a slight (zingy) taste and still be yummy.

First thing we have to remember that everything that your kid eats with whole heartedly is an healthy food for them. There are some healthy and easy food items that you can carry out are, sprouts, fresh fruitjuices, chips (home made )cookies.

What a great idea to put out a snack plate and let the kids go at it! My boys would love to see me turn my head and go yuck with their creations! We will be trying this soon!
