well, we have a reality tv show in the philippines named Pinoy Big Brither, i usually watched it at night before i go to sleep. Maybe some of you are familiar with this kind of reality show since you might also have it in your country. 14 housemates in one house for more than 100 days, approximately 2 months and two weeks, with no computer, tv and radio. Just you housemates.

It is a real comfort to know that a number of Filipinos are not buying into PBB. It is very unfortunate that the beautiful lyrics of its themesong was waylaid! A Dutch friend of mine told me about how the Dutch public reacted to an impending airing of an actual childbirth by one of the housemates! The government had to step in, but only went as far as to prevent the full airing of the entire "event", except in "snipets" of a few seconds. Unfortunately, the Filipino public is not given to exering pressure through public opinion when a wage increase is not part of the issue. More unfortunately, many of our countrymen are devouring it, at the expense of quality family time, and even forgetting that "parental guidance" in this case is crucial. I never got beyond 3 minutes of watching it, but I am "fortunate" to hear updates and the most compelling discussions on the current PBB housemate issues courtesy of my officemate. But how many parents are able to provide adequate and appropriate guidance, when many have succumbed to the influence of the PBB mindset? My point: PBB housemates, much as all public figures are, becomes role models one way or another. More crucially in this case, they are portrayed as behaving "normally"; that is, in their natural self. Yet, we find "abnormal characters put up there. The weirder the character it seems, the better. So, are we "training" whole generations to become weird characters? What's wrong with putting up there perfectly normal kids who know how to respect others, as well as respect themselves? Of course, the cash comes in with shock value of the offering. So let's not be shocked if the rate of abortion increases, extramarital affairs become almost the norm, or your kid turns out promiscuous. according to one respected journalist, it is very unfortunate that Filipinos are unable to make the distinction between "reality" and "entertainment"; and that inappropriate behavious becomes legitimate all because the character supports charity. I am sorry to say this, I think this is the most irresponsible show on TV.

Now, I think that is really criminal now. Do you still call it "plagiarism" (intellectual theft, dishonesty, etc.) in the music industry?

I would actually say yes on that!;) But I don't know what happened to that issue, as I can still hear that song still playing.

Big Brother is very popular here in the UK but I for one cannot stand it! I would rather watch paint dry, I think I watched about ten minutes of it when it first came on air, I gave up, it's worse than watching football and for me that is saying something. Why do people watch it and what is the fascination, I wish I knew, and I also wish they would end it!

LoL I prefer watching my dogs play and teach them how to talk (if they could), than watch boring pirated reality shows!;)

Good for you! I never made it to ten minutes. I think in the first run they had, I only watched about 3 minutes into one of the first few episodes when my babysitter got curious about it. Even my babysitter quit after a few episodes! Yes, watching paint dry may be a more fruitful use of time; you can possibly learn something more useful.

Watching these types of shows are just a waste of time, as this show is just a poor copy from the original one's. An intelligent viewer knows what type of quality shows they should watch, shows which are original and that it would suit the taste of intelligent viewers. Pinoy Big Brother is scripted show, with staffs and crews controlling the plot of the said "reality show."

You have a point. After i watched it, i never learned anything from it. I nver even feel entertained or satisfied with that show. It's nonsense. I shoud have just studied my chemistry lesson instead. I also thought of that before that it was all scripted.

Not a fan of it. No offense but I really think this show is scripted. Some scenes doesn't seem to be natural at all. The housemates always cry even the guys which they don't basically do in real life. They're just acting like that to give the show more audience and rating. Sorry for my opinion but that's just what I think about this show. - Ron Reyes www.ronreyes.co.nr

i don't watch pinoy big brother. all the scenes happenings inside the house are all scripted, means the management already knows who's gonna win/whats going to happen. it's not a reality show, maybe a movie or a telenovela with director and script. to make it short, "scripted" i'd rather look at prety_angel's picture than watching PBB. :D

I always watch the Australian big Brother. I love the show. I don't know how people can actually go on it, they have no control of their lives while they are on the show, no privacy.

I'm not a fan of bigbrother. BUt i think its a very good way to know what a person is before they became stars.
