Citizendium is a project similar to Wikipedia, started by Larry Sanger, the co-founder of Wikipedia. It was officially out on March 25th. The word Citizendium means citizens' compendium of everything according to the site. They already have over 1000 articles with over 1200 authors and around 200 editors. Unlike it is big brother Wikipedia, Citizendium has more stringent rules for posting. Here you have to sign up with your original name to access the edit, and each post would be reviewed and verified before putting up to the public. more about it: http://codevalley.blogspot.com/2007/03/citizendium-wikipedia-ghost-is-out.html

I never heard of this project, but its a new project. But I don't think it has any chance against wikipedia. Wikipedia is so big now that any one trying to compete with it will be easily defeated. But if they are offering a new type of service maybe this can be helpful.

read it carefully, and do check the site http://www.citizendium.org, it is the next version of wikipedia, from the very producers of wikipedia and not a rival.

I don't see how they are not competing with the wikipedia. They are offering the same product wikepedia does plus they say they will approve everything which for me is just impossible. And They don't seem to be offering other language only English, at least I seach for it and didn't found anything. Unless the wikipedia is going to shut down I don't see why I should use citizendium.org.

You are still not getting it. Ok, take it this way, Windows Vista is out on the market, and Windows XP is also there. Can you exactly say they are competing each other? I don't think so, Vista is the logical successor of XP. Citizendium uses the same engine of Wikipedia, and are in the process of importing the articles from wikipedia, it will take some time, because they have to fix the anomalies, but will be done eventually.
