I just want to cry when I read things on the net with really bad spelling and stupid shortcuts. The next time I get a LOL I may have to puke! I am afraid the English language is on a down slide. I often wonder what they are teaching kids in school. When I went to school spelling and forming a complete sentence were part of our English classes. When I see someone post using "net language" I wonder are they stupid or just trying to be clever. I figure they must like looking stupid! Maybe I am just getting old...

Absolutely, I agree. I'm a teenager for conscience' sake, and I still cannot stand when people type like complete morons. It aggravates me. Everyone has misstypes and mistakes in typing, but that's just ridiculous. What is the fun in being the generation of idiots? I sure do not want to be remembered as a child of the "Age of Illiteracy". Seriously.

At first I couldn't stand it, but I am getting used to it. Now that I have a mobile phone with those little tiny buttons I can see how people get into the habit. While I use those short cuts if I am sending a text message by phone, I try not to use them online. I may let a LOL or PITA slip in here and again, but not all that often.

It doesn't bother me. It's kinda like a short hand. It's part of computer language now. I don't do it, but each to their own.

Oh, I HATE that! And it doesn't help them out. People are less likely to respond when the poster is too lazy to bother to spell out the words. At least, I'm less likely. Not knowing English and lazy internet skills are two different things. I wish they would just take the time to show some internet etiquette. At least, MyLot etiquette. : )

I don't really hate them, but I don't gravitate towards them, either. What about 'kewl'? That is another one I notice cropping up a lot. I don't mind sme of the abbreviations, but I want to be able to understand what I am reading and not feel like I am having to slve a puzzle!

Ok so I M a lil slow getn 2 dis 1 (LOL) I just couldn't resist.
But yea I can't say that I am particularly found of it. But I think that their earnings will suffer in the long run. While no one really knows how mylot figures the payments. I do know this. It is algorythem which as far as I understand is a mathmatical formula.
So just taking a guess that things like word count, count so they are only ripping themselves off. Of course leaving more money for me.

I probably should have added that I don't mind it for conveying emotions like or laughing.

For people how don't speak/read English very well it can be really difficult to understand some slung. And myLot probably take this into account while making the earning calculation.
And visually it is not nice and only transmit a bad image for the person.

I admit, I am guilt of using LOL. Probaby to the point of annoyance but I like to let people know I'm being sarcastic or meaning to be funny. (As if it could possibly be unintentional!)
I really dislike reading a post that is full of u, ur, 1, or even ne1 (I hate that one). It really puts me off and makes me think twice about taking the poster seriously! I mean, honestly, how much longer does it take to type "you" instead of "u". Come on!
I can read it and I can understand it, but it makes me feel like a 10 year old typed it.
