Anyone in or made it through a long distance relationship? My boyfriend and I just made it through a ten month long LDR. We are moving in together at the end of this week. Finally! So, how did we do it? 1.) Constant Contact. 2.) Making dates in a box. Pick a theme. Fill the box with items that support it. for example: relaxing date: lavender soap, incense, slippers, lap blanket, candles, a good book, tea, pictures of us, poetry, relaxing music hand picked and put on a cd for him. 3.) Seeing each other often as possible. 4.) Setting goals for the future. 5.) Make list with questions about each other and talk about them. Getting to really know each other. 6.) Write and read poetry to each other. 7.) Plan out the dates and times your together to get the most out of the time. 8.) Find special places for you, create special memories. 9.) Exchanged framed photos of each other. 10.) Always make your goal to be together, without this goal it will feel fruitless and frustrating. What things have you done to make your LDR work and keep it alive and loving?

my husband and i also had a 10 month LDR ,it wasnt to hard for us we worked at it every day we talked on the messenger everyday, talked about things we want out of life and things we enjoy, we sent e mails and e cards daily, we talked on the phone when possible, sent little presents in snail mail to each other. finally 5 months after we started talking we met half way he lived in Vermont i in Ohio we met and spent several days together learning even more about each other. we met a second time a month later and decided that was it we wanted to be together. I moved in with him and 2 years later we married and 4 years later we are still very happy.

Wow! Good for you! All those ideas sound very sweet, and I'll have to try that date in a box. It's good you had a committed partner though that would actually go along with all of that. I don't think my guy would want to write and read poetry to each other, hehe. But I'm not in a long distance relationship, thank goodness. I've been in quite a few though, but it never worked out. It was probably for the best though, the guys weren't that great anyway and I deserved better.

10 months?! WOW! Thats awsome that you made it through that! My boyfriend and I had a long distance relationship for 3 months, before we were even able to see each other. Then after that for another 3 months, he lived in PA, and I lived in NJ, so he had to drive really far to see me. But the phone and internet is what kept us going. We had constant e-mails, and we always talked on the phone, I would write him letters, and send him pictures and it was really hard for a while, but then he moved in with me, and 3 years later, here we are! Good luck to you!
