Is pet insurance worth it?

I have been debating pet insurance since I got my dog. Today we had to visit the vet because I thought her spay stitches got infected. A 15 minute visit, plus 4 anti-biotic pills, and a vaccination shot cost over $80!
Do you have pet insurance? Do recommend a certain plan?

My partner purchased insurance for both of our cats a little less than a year ago. Then last December we found out that one of our kitties had to be on antidepressant. The insurance, however, did not cover the medication, which costs about $30 per month. The insurance itself is about $150 per cat, per year.
I suggest you shop around and research online first. Also, read the policy before you make a purchase and ask questions whenever you have any.

I recently got a lovely little cat and he is absolutely adorable but for whatever reason we have not claimed on his insurance yet as it has to be over a certain amount for his bill and we were always slightly below it but ours is only the equivlent of $15 a year and has the most amazing stuff on it.
My aunt has a labrador and the poor thing has delevoped allergies which cause really painful skin irritation and she says she is so thankful for her insurance and they have been no hassle at all.
It is the kind of thing that if something serious happens you will be mor ehtan happy to have it. The last thing you want when you pet is ill is to be worrying about expenses.
I hope your dog si recovering well. My cat was just at the vet the other day getting spayed too.

Vet insurance for your pet is based on the age of your animal. So the younger the cheaper it is. I would imagine if it has any current problems would affect this also. It is suppost to off set the cost of going to the vet somewhat like when we go to the doctor. I haven't purchased any but I have been checking into it and it seems like a good idea.
