Well, its that time again. Time for Spring cleaning. I hate cleaning. I'm not going to lie about it. But, being the woman in the house, if I don't do it, it won't get done. When I start my Spring cleaning, I make out a list of everything I want to get done. From washing dishes, clothes, to scrubbing the floors. And believe me, they need it. We live on a dirt road and I have three kids...you do the math. I'm in the process of cleaning now...can't you tell. Actually, I'm taking a break...hehehe. What's your plan when you start your Spring cleaning?

LOL I had to laugh at your "I'm not going to lie about it" I hate spring cleaning too. We heat with a coal stove in winter and that is the dirtest kind of heat but it is warm and cheap. The walls turn black and it is so hard to clean. Plus my husband wanted a bird so I got him 2 parakeets from someone who did not want them. I have 2 cats and a puppy indoors so it is in need of major spring cleaning this year.
I dont even want to think about it.

I know what you mean! Three kids, 2 dogs, 4 sugar gliders(that's 2 cages), 2 birds(two cages), 2 hamsters(2 cages), 3 turtles(2 tanks), and a snake. Plus a husband! LOL I might as well have a petting zoo!

I meant that about the animals not the kids and husband. LOL

You make this whole thing appear like a joke. It is fun to note the way you describe that cleaning job you have to deal with, vis a vis, the members of the household.

Actually I did some cleaning yesterday. I do regular cleaning at least once a week...so the place isn't too bad most of the time. However...I enjoy cleaning and cleaning products. I am a little obsessive compulsive when it comes to cleaning and scents. I hate seeing anything dirty..etc. It is hard though..because I also have a family and as soon as I clean it's dirty again...

I happen to live in a country where we are enjoying only two seasons each year, under normal conditions. We have the dry and the rainy seasons. You can tell immediately that I am not familiar about spring cleaning. The regular daily chore involving cleaning is what I am most familiar with. We do it here early in the morning when the children are not attending school and, when the children have been off to school already during schooldays. This cleaning thing is always backbreaking and time consuming.

It always is....Spring cleaning is basicly an expression. What it means is you go through your whole house cleaning everything...getting rid of clothes that no longer fit, things that are no longer wanted or needed. And getting your whole home organized....

I'm not much of a fan of cleaning either. On the other hand, to me it's worth it because I absolutely can't stand a messy or disorganized environment. A little "lived in" is fine, but I don't like to go overboard with it. Basically, I usually do it on the weekends when there is more time... tidying up, dusting, vacuuming... However, at least it is inside. I LOATHE yardwork and always avoid it like the plague. Luckily I have someone else willing to do that part!

The only yardwork I mind doing is raking. But once I get the leaves raked in a pile my kids and husband have to pick them up...I hate doing that...

I get mad at everything and get fed up with the house looking like it does. It usually happens around the start of spring. I rearrange furniture, sweep and mop where it used to be, scrub the floors, vacuum real good, wipe down the base boards and trim around the doors and windows, take out all of my pots and pans and clean my shelves and cabinets, the refrigerator too! Open up the windows and air out the stale air and scrub stains out of the carpet that needs cleaning. This usually takes about a week and I am not happy until it is done. My family usually sneaks out as soon as they can, I am a bear to be around during this time!

I know what you mean! When I say I'm getting ready to start cleaning everyone usually disappears. LOL And it usually takes me about a week too in order to get it all done.

I hate spring cleaning also. I start with the walls, then the blinds and closets. I go and clean out my kitchen cabonets and the catch all drawers. I don't use a list. I just decide as I finish one thing up and then just go to another.

If I don't use a list I will get side tracked with something else. LOL As I finish one thing I check it off then move onto the next thing on my list. I see progress when I look at the house and I can get a good glimpse at how much I've done by looking at the list. That and when it looks as though I didn't do anything the next day(I have 3 kids and a husband..hehehe), I can look at the list and think well, I did do that. LOL

It's good to know I'm not alone in this world of house work and kids. LOL My kids have daily chores and I have to remind them daily of their chores. :-)

I see what you mean. Three kids and a husband can make short work of what you have done. My son has three kids and a wife. He is the one who stays at home and takes care of the housework and the kids. His kids are 9, 11 and 12 and he requires them to help around the house. They are pretty good but sometimes they need a little hard encouragment.

I usually plan to do it when I have a week off work. I tend to do one or two rooms a day. Never the whole house in one day its too much like hard work.
By doing it room by room I pull everything out clean everything and put it all back again. By the end of the week I will have completely cleaned the whole house but as I only do one or two rooms a day I dont feel like my whole week has been spent cleaning.
For me the best way is to do it in my pjs as soon as I get out of bed. If I have breakfast or anything first I go off the idea and end up not doing it.

Fortunately, I had this week off. Spring Break and I'm a sub. I could never get started as soon as I woke up. I have to have my first cup of coffee and smoke before I do anything. But if I don't get started shortly after, I might as well not worry about it.

what i call spring cleaning is going through all the dressers and getting rid of all the clothes that arent worn anymore and ones that dont fit and going through books and getting rid of the ones that have been already read and wont be read again and going through the junk drawers and the cupboards to see if there are any out dated items then after all the excess junk is gone that i dont need in the house anymore then i sweep and mop and scrub and wash and do laundry. I should do what you said you do and make a list that way i know i get to everyhting that i had originally wanted to do. That would be a good idea.

I think I need to add a few more things to my list. Making a list helps. You know what needs to be done and what you've already done. Thanks for the reply!
