Have you ever had nits?, i cant remember if i ever actually had them but i remember being checked in school and stuff. People want the nit nurse back in school because parents are getting fed up with their kids catching nits so often, do you think its a good idea?

Nits are actually the eggs for lice . You can't catch nits it is the lice you catch . I had lice when I was around two from a little boy I played with and then once as an adult from one of my children . Lice is in all the schools and because of people not wanting to treat their children when they have lice ( which is really disgusting as who would want bugs running around in their child's head )this is one of the reason's it is so hard to keep out of the schools . When a child comes down with lice or anyone in life you ahve to treat it and then be sure to clean your whole house throughfully . It is a lot of work but has to be repeated until you know all the lice are gone as they can be on your clothing or even on toys and such and because you have no idea where there may be some you have to be very carefull to make sure everything in your house has been cleaned down , bagged and vaccumed . I am not sure if I would want someone in our school checking the children just because they have had others in the shcool in the past and not knowing what they were doing and all they were doing was spreading it from one child to the next as they were not even wearing gloves . I would love if they could get someone who knew what they were doing but I also feel that if they would allow us to let our child keep their head covered such as in hats or bandanna's this might help some also but they will not allow the child to wear anything in their hair . It had been so bad at the shcools we have hear as their are a few families that will send their children to school when their children have it and refuse to treat it therefore spreading it all the time and they have almost had to shut down the school on a few occasions because of the number of children that were out of school with this . I had kept my children home for over two weeeks when they refused to close the school when over half the school ended up with lice . My daughter had it a couple of years ago and I never want to have to go through that again and either does she so I kept them home unitl it started to die down a bit with how many children had it .

When my sister was in little school a few years ago they still hada nit nurse but they weren't allowed to say which people had nits and all children got a letter home saying that nits were in the class and everyone should be checked and treated if neccessary. APparently they weren't allowed to tell a parent their child had nits in case it caused offence or something. WHat is that all about? So the children went home with the letter and some kids never got checked and there was just a constant nit problem. She had nits once but we treated her, gto her hair all pinned back everyday, kept checking her and luckily she avoided it again but every week a letter was coming home. My thoughts are that if a child has nits for longer than a couple of days then they should get reported to social services or something. It is total neglect. In the UK children get free prescription so children were constantly at the doctors to get free prescription but now if you take your nitty child into a pharmacist, the pharmacist will have a look and give you a bottle a way with you.

Oh yes, I've had nits, the eggs layed by headlice. I remember getting them in school which was very embarrassing to say the least. The teachers in our schools do the headlice checks, once a week and keep on top of it. If there were no head checks it would get completely out of hand!

It is a great idea for people to check childrens hair. We had a problem with my number 2 daughter always getting them as the person who sat next to her had them and their mother didn't do anything about it. We found the only way to stop my daughter from getting them was to put tea tree oil in with the shampoo and conditioner and also put mousse in her hair daily. Some places it is a big problem. There is a great little machine called a robi comb which actually electrocutes the nits when they are in the hair. Nowdays we just use that to check everybodys hair.

When my son was little there were constant outbreaks of nits in the school. We spent a lot of time and money on trying to clear the wretched things, and they kept coming back time and time again. Finally we got one of the local health visitors to come to the school and check all the kids over once a week. Unfortunately, although this helped for a while, many of the parents simply didn't bother to treat their kids so we never really got rid of them

Im also having that problem myself n my hair is shoulder length.Samrat never helps me out so I have to struggle a lot . i went to a pharmacy n purchase a box wiv a comb and shampoo. and when i use the shampoo, it helped me a lot but now i only have to get all the eggs all. i cant cut my hair either. the name of the box is lice attack, remember lice can live to 72 hours n nits live to 24 hours. dun wash ur pillow and bedsheet cos theres no point, she will still have it in the beginning. wash it when u think its gone. apply conditioner or olive oil on her hair then it would help to comb the eggs and lice out. if u think u need more powerful method, go to the doctor n ask them to give u a stronger shampoo. u have to be patient. i almost scream when i saw the lice. u will be fine, hope this helps.
