James Blunt is NOT Punk or metal, so why am I obsessed?

I am a huge fan of punk bands like Rise Against, As I Lay Dying, Senses Fail, Billy Talent, Thrice, My Chemical Romance, etc.. I am also a huge fan of Marilyn Manson, KoRn, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, etc... I recently was at a friends house and he played a James Blunt song for me that made my knees weak and I almost cried. Since then I rushed home and downloaded every song of his that I could find. Each song I have listened to I love. I find myself putting on the James Blunt playlist I have made and repeating it. His words are so beautiful, his voice passionate, the subjects that he sings about are unique but I can feel it and understand. Does anyone else lvoe James Blunt or have another singer that is out of their genre that they can't get enough of?

The thing I found baffling though was that I'm not into the love type of cutsie romance music at all. Thank you for the comment.

I do not and can not understand the obsession with this guy. Every girl I know just adores him and without a reason why. They say he adds something new and fresh? Well, where is it? I don't hear it! His songs are nothing different, in fact they make me sick, his voice annoys me and the bloody radio stations play him over and over and over! To answer your question ma'am, psychologically you may appear to be a tough cookie, liking hard rock and punk music, but deep down inside you are female with sensitive feelings. Being hard, rough tough and strong is just your front, which in time, you came to believe that is really, "you". JB's music appealed to your female senses. That's all. Have a nice day. :)

Please don't generalize about me. I don't think I'm some hardcore punker chick. I am not about to apologize for being female either. I agree with you, his voice is horrible. It kind of reminds of of Gedde Lee from Rush. (I can't stand that high pitched gurly man voice)..... There is just something in the lyrics. Okay, maybe you are right and he is "getting in touch with my feminine side" lol, meh whatever. Please don't tell me I have a "front". Yes I am female. I never said I wasn't. Sheesh, lol. But thanX for the comment and your bluntness (pun not intended heehee). I think you and I could have a great bunch of conversations about music!

Yeah, or you could tip your waiter. But I suppose it all depends on the service you get, right?

Sometimes, someone's music can be catchy even if it is in an entirely different category of what we listen to. My favorites are Scorpions, Michael Schenker, Yngwie Malmsteen, Queensryche, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Whitesnake, & some others. Believe it or not I found Cascada (her singing & her band of computer music geeks) awfully catchy. It's normal to find other good music outside of what we normally listen to.

She's on myspace at: http://www.myspace.com/cascada It was that Everytime We Touch that caught me. If you replace that artificial instrumentatal section with double-guitar solos like Glenn Tipton & KK Downing did in several Judas Priest cuts, it'd rock a whole lot better.

My first favourite rock band when I was 6 years old was Black Sabbath. I loved Ozzy back in the day too. Queensryche are good. Loved the twisted Sister, Quiet Riot still has me wanting to feel the noise. I grew up on this stuff lol, it will never go out of style for me. So having said that I am going to have to check out Cascada.. Thanks!

Let's be blunt about Blunt! There's something about his music that drives me batty as well and I listen to the hard core stuff too (Raised Fist, Arch Enemy, Cradle of Filth etc). He's a little on the scrappy side, sort of whines when he sings but there is something about him that (as you said) makes my knees weak. So you aren't alone .. :]
