When we had the internet installed in our home, we found a certain phrase that always appears at the top of the internet browser. This phrase is 'TAGA LIPA ARE' a Filipino dialect phrase which means "this one's from Lipa"[a city in Batangas, Philippines]. I personally had no problems with it since I then thought it was just a setting that we could just change in the 'VIEW' or 'TOOLS' option. My sister however really doesnt like the phrase appearing at all. But recently, when I used a computer at the university, I found 'TAGA LIPA ARE' there. I was puzzled... Then I thought this must not be just a simple setting in the PC - I thought this might be a virus, and I was correct!!! The 'TAGA LIPA ARE' indeed is a virus... Apparently, a student named 'Sonny' from the STI Computer College of Lipa created this virus. In a forum that I've found discussing this issue, he said the virus isn't that detrimental - it only changes the heading of the browser.. In this forum, he also said how you could remove the virus but I cant really understant much what's in his instructions.. My brother in law said this virus is harmful if you let it sit on the PC for a long time... I dont really know about that... Do you have this virus too?? Do you have experiences regarding this? The link to the forum is www.pcx.com.ph/forum/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=3&TopicID=24948&PagePosition=1 The name of the creator of the virus is 'Shengton' in that forum...

I also noticed this TAGA LIPA ARE phrase on my browser. How can I get rid of it. I really don't think that it was a virus because aside from the "TAGA LIPA ARE" phrase, there are not other signs that my computer was infected with a virus. I really want to remove it.

Yes indeed, it is a virus. The creator of this virus however claims that it is not that detrimental to your system. For more information, I think it's better for you to just read the forum linked at the URL displayed at the end of my main discussion.. B-)

I'm not the creator of TAGA LIPA ARE! or TLA. I've never been in Lipa.
