The main reason i picked up guitar was due to my lack of musical outlet in college. I've played Piano and Trombone for about 10 years of my life before coming here, and for some reason i didn't really keep it up here in college, mostly focused my music on history and composition. Recently i picked up my friends guitar and taught myself how to play, which isn't too hard for someone with as much musical history as i have. I love guitar, it's a great way to relieve stress and relax, and I've found to be one of the most social instruments around, if not the most. Girl's seem to love a guy who can play guitar as well, but i swear that's not the reason i started playing ^_^

I started out playing the violin and the cello back in grade school. As I got older my tastes changed and I taught myself how to play the guitar when I was 18. I was a Marine living in the Barracks at the time and I didn't go out and party like everyone else. I wanted to be more productive so I bought my first guitar. I'm now 30 and I play rhythm guitar and funk bass. For me music has always been my outlet and I like to sing and write music as well. Right now I'm teaching my friend's son how to play the electric guitar. I like using my talent to help others and I find that as I get older and get more mature I have an easier time learning hard passages and riffs. Here are some great websites that can help you out. First here is an online tuner: http://www.gieson.com/Library/projects/utilities/tuner/ Here is a great site for chords: http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/ Just go to the easy room for basic and intermediate chords. I also get most of my music from www.ultimate-guitar.com and if you can download Guitar Pro or Power tab. Power tab is free and I think you have to pay for guitar pro but they present the music in sheet-music style instead of text. Good luck!

I play guitar because it makes me happy. I love music in all its forms. And to be able to make music by playing guitar by myself and singing along is just a pure joy.

Wayback in my brother's highschool days, he used to be an interested guitar player. Yet those days, I have shown no interest with guitar. It just started during my college days. I was motivated by some friends. Since I am just a beginner and I do not own a guitar, I just borrowed my bro's guitar. I learned a little. But I'm no good. Eventually, my interest is lost. After a year, due to my friends (again) and my passion for music, my interest grew a little much more. Because my berks wanted to create a band, I was forced to buy a guitar and now, I'm learning. And hoping to be better this time. Anyway, any tips you can give for a beginner?

you should play the guitar whenever you have free time. maybe 4 hours you should play the guitar. you should practice the chords and try to tune the guitar correctly. you have to practice everyday.

After 27 years it's like another family member to me, i can't go more than 4 or so days without playing it. Another site that you can check out is www.chordie.com - their indexing of tabs is easy to follow.
