guilt

Women are the first in line to stand up for a good cause. We can mobilize an army of volunteers to save a faltering school system, a crumbling church, or a sagging corporation. We are willing and able to put our weight behind any cause that is politically correct. We genuienly care about the homeless, the starving, the brutalized, and the forgotten, and we do a great deal of good. Who knows how much of our causes are motivated by guilt? Only we can know that, as we look inside.
The one cause that we have difficulty supporting is that of women. We are covered with guilt if we take a stand on our own behalf. We believe we should always be putting our energies "out there" for those who need it more. Women are notoruous for not recognizing and standing up for our own needs and, on those rare occasions when we do, we are quickly immobilized when anyone calls us selfish.

All I can say is "AMEN". You hit the nail right on the head. Everyone comes before us but in the off chance that we do something for ourselves, we get accused of being greedy or selfish. Then we feel guilty because we did something for ourselves for a change. It is a vicious cycle.
