Will you sell something you received as a gift from a friend?

I was thinking of selling some of my older stuff on e bay, only some of them are gifts I received from my friends more than 10 years ago. Some of them are CDs I no longer listen to, or books I've already read. Years have passed and I seldom see those friends anymore, if at all. What is your opinion?

I know it might seem ungreatful if you sell gifts that you have been given, or re-gift items (i've known people to give other people gifts of items they have themselves recieve as gifts) but i guess if the person just didn't buy you something you like/use/need/want then there's no point keeping it for sentimental reasons. In your case it sounds like you've tried to use/enjoy the items and bascially got all the use and enjoyment out of them that you can. You wouldn't keep items you'd bought yourself even if you no longer wanted them so why should a gift be any different? Don't feel guilty or sentimental over it, if we all kept every gift we'd ever received we'd have very cluttered houses!

I would sell gifts from friends on ebay or anywhere else for that matter. If we keep everything we ever get, there will be no room for us to live in our houses! True friends understand we can't keep things for the rest of our lives, sometimes we have to move on. It doesn't mean we don't love them anymore.

If your stuff adds clutter to your house / room then by all means sell them on ebay. You may not find any use for your stuff even though they are gifts from your friends but there may be people who will still use the CDs or books you're going to sell. It's a great way to clean up the clutter around your house and you'll earn a few bucks too.

Hey if you don't sell what are you gonna do with the stuff. At least you should make a couple of bucks off it. I sell on eBay and it is a great money to make extra money. Go for it!!!

You're right. I mean, some of those CDs I'm not listening to at all. They are basically gathering dust and occupying space. Why not sell it to someone who will use it?

A gift is... a gift. I just feel it is a bit wrong to sell any gift. Imagine how your friend will react if he sees the gift he gave you on ebay! :P

i think friends are much more valuable than gifts. if u have certain emotionsattached to certain gift , then its a different case altogether , otherwise , i dont think one should have to give a second thought to it. go n make ur home or room clean , neat , and more tidy from many more beautiful gifts .
