Do you think Mylot users should give personal email addresses to other users without permission? The purpose for this? To purely har@ss another user. I thought we were all suppose to be adults here?

I think I understand what you are saying not that mylot gave out your personal info but that you gave it to someone and they gave it to someone else. This comes back to what I have said before you cant believe you know anyone off of the net. Anyone can pretend to be anyone or anything they want and you dont have a clue. If you value your privacy you have to be very careful about any info you give out. There was another thread and I pointed out with just a name you can find out where someone lives for $7 online. So you have to be careful what you post and who you trust.

No it wasn't mine either. This happened to a friend. They had been long time friends with each other. And yes I agree you must be very careful. You can find out a lot of things about people, even one's who have never used the net.

I don't think this has been done. And myLot certainly should not do such a thing in the future. This is a violation of privacy.

I'm sorry for the confusion Wizard. Mylot didn't give out the info, a user here did this to one of their long time friends. No matter who did it, it is sill a violation of privacy as you said.

So I take it that someone gave YOUR email address to someone else? If so that's so wrong. It's unethical yet not a frienddly gesture either. As far as one giving their own out that's cool by me. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

No not mine, but a friend. They are so upset right now and I do not blame them. One of the people who did this, started a huge fuss here. Then gave the email address to someone else. I think if you have an issue with someone choose to resolve it or cut ties. But do not get others involved like that.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I just wanted to know what people thoughts were about it without giving out to much info. These people had been friends for a long time.

Have you had this experience mfpsassy? I would never disclose someones email address to another person. I would direct them to ask for it themselves.

Luckily, Angel, I have not had this expreience. I too would have either told them to ask themselves or asked them myself before doing this.

I would never give anyone out a friends email without their knowledge and/or permission! It is like giving out a friends phone no and is simply unacceptable!

I know you wouldn't honey. I even taught my kids that this is unapropiate behavior. I have also taught them that in doing this they might even bring harm to someone. That's why I can't figure out why adults would do this

I think that they should ask first. Its just plain flat out rude thats almost as bad as giving telemarketers your friends phone number. so yeah i think its wrong for them to do it and maybe you should report it to mylot and see if they can do anything about it.

I would be really upset if this happened to me. Granted, I don't think I've given anyone here my email address, but if I did I would expect them not to share it. That is very childish behavior.
