It is sad to think we live in a world that is aware of various forms of discrimination, yet weight discrimination is treated with a blind eye. And is given a tender hand of love by our goverment and media. Voice your stories of how discrimination has hurt your life. How stereo types have made life an even bigger struggle. Let your voice be heard!

I have been overweight all my life...and yet, I am lucky. I have gotten every job that I have interviewed for and I am treated with respect. I belive that is because I demand it. I let people know up front that my weight is not an obstacle for me and I won't allow it to be an obstacle for them. However, my little brother is also overweight and he lacks confidence. Many times in life, he has struggled to get where he wants to get because of his weight and confidence issues. I think there is discrimination against fat people if we allow it. I for one, do not !!

You have a an excellent grasp on the main key to being overweight, that being confidence. But unfortunatley some people have been so verbally beaten down that confidence is only a dream for them. I have seen it first hand, in someone who is very close to me. In fact this same person is one of the people I personally give credit to for showing me how to walk tall and have faith in myself. Now they sit at a breaking point contemplating surgery, and my words now seem to fall on deaf ears.
