You can't be given a Best Response if you just made an added comment...

to the response already provided by another mylotter. i didn't realize it before. and i don't know if others realized it too.
most of my time with mylot today, i spent, not responding or starting discussions but going thru my unresolved discussions and awarding "best responses" to my fellow mylotters who responded in some of my discussions.
i was supposed to mark one of them as the best response when i realized that it was a sub comment rather than a full response. i didn't see anything to click to mark it as a best response so i just gave it a positive rating. unfortunately, i had to choose somebody else for the best response. i'm just glad that the other response was as equally relevant and useful for me that also made sense.
has this ever happened to you before?
does this mean that if you are aiming for a best response, better make a response than a sub comment only?

Nope, that never happened to me before, as I was not that active in giving a 'best response' before. But I've seen a discussion that is quite the same as your's, that's where I noticed that there's a no 'best response mark' on a person who just comments on another member's legitimate response. So it's really much better if we post than make a comment, because commenting on other people's response does not provide us any kind of earnings -as well as a chance to be chosen as best response..

i experienced putting a sub comment before and i noticed that my number of posts increased, so i'm assuming a sub comment is counted as a post and that we earn from it too.
however, i'm not a 100% sure about that.

If you don't mention here, I cannot realize that...
Yes, it seems that it is not possible to mark the best response to the sub-comment, because mylot do not have this function until now.
Maybe you can ask mylot to add this function for us in the earn future. =)

I am sorry that I've made a typing mistake. It should be "in the near future" instead of "in the earn future"! LOL
I am really sorry about that. =(

that's alright, don't mind the typing error. almost everybody experience that. myself included. :)
thanks!

Exactly!! A response is to the conversation in general, a comment is to what someone has said in a response. I prefer to make responses as opposed to sub-comments. I have gotten pages and pages and pages of best responses that way. That's not my biggest aim on MyLot, but it sure is nice to see them all there.

unfortunate for those who keep putting sub comments instead of a response. if theirs is as good as the general response, they could have been awarded best responses before. oh, well, this happens...

If people want to post a comment on another persons response, then they should also post their own comment after that seperately. That way they have a chance of receiving best response. If post gets hundreds of responses then there is a good chance that the person who posted the topic may not see the comment if they just go checking the new responses. I usually go back and search to see if somebody has posted a comment after a response because although I can't give them a best response, I can at least rate them.

yup, i do that too. i recently had a topic with more than 100 responses and i went again and again to check subcomments too. :) thanks!

if you are aiming for best response, then yes, make your own response, not a sub comment. I only sub comment if I have something to add to whatever was said in the above comment, or when responding to a poster to one of my discussions.

it was just so unfortunate that the sub comment was as good as the response itself that i was actually leaning towards giving it the best response... however, of course i couldn't.
