I have this weird fear of sockets. I figured because I got electrocuted when I was younger, I developed this fear of plugs and sockets and anything that involved electricity. I so want to get over this fear but I don't know where to begin. What about you? Do you fear something that seems trivial to others but is very important to you?

Fears are hard to overcome.
When we have a bad experience, they tend to stay and scar us.
Sometimes we know what it is, other times we don't and develope phobias.
I have a fear of worms. I know that they are harmless and cannot hurt me. But, I get anxiety attacks. Yet, snakes do not bother me at all.

Yes friend I can understand that how one can develop some fears for something when they have some mishappening due to that thing. One my friend, even when he was grown up , while going through a field at night saw a snake moving in front of him.Though the snake didnot do any harm to him, but after that incident he never went though that place again even in the day and developed so much fear for snake that just if someone jokingly said "snake",he will just jump off his seat.
Though personally I don't have any of that type of fear for any particular thing.
I suggest that you try to operate swithches wearing rubber gloves as all of us know that rubber is insulated to electricity.Make up your mind and after wearing gloves operate the swithes and sockets, so that you will start using the switches , after few days once in a while try to operate the sockets without wearing gloves, this way slowly to will yourself someday try it without wearing the gloves and start operating bare handed.
For all this exercise you must be determined that you have to come of your fear as now you are grown up and the thing happened to you when you were young.
